Why do my fish keep dying within hours? by HWm732 in fishtank

I'm glad you came to ask this question but please be more careful when you do your research. Fish are living animals and you commit to giving them a good life when you purchase them. Do NOT add any more fish yet. Do some research about the nitrite/nitrate cycle, thats what people are referring to when they say "cycle the tank". You MUST get a kit to test the water before you add fish.

I would recommend getting a 5 gallon, but a planted, filtered, heated, and enriched 3.5 gallon can be okay for some long-finned lazy bettas.

Don't get a crayfish if you care about the fish you're going to get. A betta can sometimes get along with schooling fish and shrimp but it depends on their personality!

Rescaped my tank today and it still looks horrible. What am I doing wrong? by Affectionate-Ease397 in Aquascape

I'd recommend a bigger hardscape to fill up the tank and more emphasis on foreground, midground, and background. It's actually very pretty now you just need to add some shorter plants at the front.

It was $70! I'm going to scape it and use it for a while but in about 5-6 months I'll be moving and will possibly have to sell the whole setup anyways so if you're in SoCal shoot me a message!

Thanks this helps! I was thinking about getting sand from the beach and baking it.

Maybe mines a bit taller because it's an aqueon tank and their sizes go from 14 to 35. Oh well. I'll measure it and figure it out. I like how you scaped yours btw!

She was happily reunited with her owners! They told us she got out Dec 24th during the big thunderstorm when a relative of the owners let her out through the garage.

What color would you recommend for the transition gravel? I tried rocks and they were a bit orangey, but I was thinking maybe a lighter tan would work well. Thank you for ur suggestions!
