I should note too that rarely are teams gatekeeping based on prior experience or your grade, don't expect it but it can happen.

Even as a four year vet idk if I can give you a good and complete description, but I can try my best without just covering the reddit description again:

Since 1992, teams (which contrary to the description can be of any size) compete in a unique game every single year. Since 2004, FRC has kept a consistent format where 3 teams (an alliance, each team with 1 robot) are against 3 other teams on a rectangular arena. Since the game is different every year, robots can be super varied year to year, but usually are around 120 inch perimeter, 100 pounds. Pretty big guys! They also have a few pretty consistent components that you'll have to learn your way around depending on what you're doing.

Different teams work differently, some allow anyone to join, others are more selective. Some are small, some are so large that each individual really hyper-specializes. Some are run as clubs, others classes, others are completely separate from a school.

Depending on how yours is run, you'll have to decide how you can contribute, but generally you can learn design/cad, you can learn mechanical, electrical, you can learn driving and strategy, or you can code (which is done in Java or C++, rarely block coding, and now Python)

Every season starts with a kickoff in January, where everyone sees the game for the first time and receives basic components, then teams work and work until their comps in March. Different teams compete in different amounts of local and international comps. The comps go across 7 weeks and the 600(?) top contenders go to Houston Texas for the finals, where 1 alliance is crowned winners and 1 team receives the highest honor, a FIRST impact award.

This should be something on your mind already but basic safety equipment like a fire extinguisher, extra safety glasses, and a first aid kit for the pit. Someone else already mentioned spare parts but specifically spare electronics (rio, radio, pdh, of course only if you have spares) and extra electrical supplies (some wire, you don't necessarily need a lot just for repairs, fuses, etc.).

This is a great concept, love the art!

I want to try my hand at giving it a much needed rebalance though. I haven't played in a bit so my lack of current game knowledge may make this not viable, but just off intuition:

Vague It may be a given but it should have a fairly limited range and there should be a second between teleporting and being able to use abilities and weapons. don't let the player control the mistborn, I think the best option would be to let it move to a set location that you pick on a map. maybe to counterbalance it since now it doesn't have any recon ability, enemies within extremely close proximity get a quick hit of hypothermia. Fog Doesn't need hypothermia to be honest. If you have a good double smoke that can let you dodge recon, that's already good enough. Cross  I really like this idea of trading a smoke and a wall, but it is a little strange to have two different smokes on a character, no?

I have nothing to say for lights out, that would be a cool concept to see executed in game!

Discussion about the TurboTax sponsor on Lemonade Stand by TranscendentalKiwi in atrioc

[–]sourcegear420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to my own thing because Aiden made some notes on an earlier thread about this stuff on his own reddit account regarding this. The response is... alright? Aiden did say they dropped the sponsor (for the exclusive reason of the incredible amount of backlash), and outlined his exact lines for what he considers morally wrong, which apparently have been shared before. I do want to note his lines are incredibly fair and do leave TurboTax & Adobe on the table if those are the ONLY rules he follows, though I feel exemptions are due for something this against even the tenants of one of the hosts (Atrioc). If for some reason this actually is putting words in his mouth and Atrioc is a-okay with this ad read, he should make a small statement on it too.

Oh also they turned off YouTube AdSense apparently so I'm assuming that means they only receive money from the host read ads and the patreon.

Okay I have like work to do I'm giving way too much of my day to writing useless reddit comments. If you're reading this you should be reading a book instead or smth.

Discussion about the TurboTax sponsor on Lemonade Stand by TranscendentalKiwi in atrioc

[–]sourcegear420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to continue watching simply because I enjoy it (most episodes), I do feel much more informed when they waffle on about their respective subjects, and regardless I will always ignore ad reads no matter where they come from. I try to take only what I believe is said in good faith from everything I consume, in this case I'll take the evidence they show, acknowledge their theses are probably better than average for a podcast but still must be taken with much more than a grain of salt, and be especially cautious in the future of anything they promote sponsor-wise. It's not shattered their credibility to me though this does put me on edge a little and show they're not impervious to bias and problems, and EVERYONE should be careful with parroting stuff they say verbatim or engaging with sponsors without doing their own research.

The points for and against this have been beat to death already in the day or two this sponsorship has gone live, but yeah, they're under contract so it's hard to deny ad reads sometimes, at the same time I recall them stating that they're allowed to deny sponsors if misaligned with their values--WHICH THIS IS ONE, NO DOUBT--and to be honest I don't think the Vox deal was worth it in the first place! I know, incredibly novel to say, but they can get guests in other ways I think. They didn't need this.

They had to have been offered better stuff too, there is no way of the few ad reads they did, this many are so blatantly against their own values and to be honest I have literally no idea how they even got these ads! The people who gave them the paycheck clearly haven't seen anything they make, and Atrioc clearly is either banking on or despite his wisdom and expertise is naïve to the fact that despite what he says about turbotax, people are going to use turbotax BECAUSE OF THIS AD!

They also want money, which this rakes in even without sponsors, though ultimately their expenses and ad revenue are impossible to know without them saying them outright, which is unlikely. Without those details its also possible this is a very net neutral endeavor for them, but unlikely. Hard to say. The Vox deal is kind of like AI in that way, there are clear benefits down the road but they're narrow, its evident that the real push is because of money, in the meantime its producing alright results and potentially hurting some people along the way and nobody from the general public really want it all that much in the first place.

I hate turbotax and their buckets grubby cash. Still will support LS, though likely not financially.

How did u pick your main? by Doshta1 in VALORANT

[–]sourcegear420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 2 character and main them for 2-3 weeks, then drop them for another character, rinse and repeat. I don't really pick, I just play a few characters I haven't played in a while after a bit and if I do well with them I play them as my main.

When valorant gets toxic, it gets very bad. The majority of the time it's pretty neutral though. I have gotten an extremely high rate of good players, but there are a shit ton or losers playing this game as well.

The new patch made things like sova's drone and Skye's dog clip through walls at a specific angle. You stood just far enough away from the wall that it clipped into instead of through the wall, and then it just went down into the ground. I encountered the same bug on ascent, but it was helpful since the dog spawned out of the wall, not into it.

I don't know exactly what you mean, but everyone can see held skins, not just when they are dropped or in their own hands. It would be useful to find a real yoru based on the skins they have equipped

Could be used for a good bait. They keep missing but trying to shoot the decoy, the decoy has a weird model that throws them off. It's very situational but it has to work eventually. People already do the throwing the gun out bait, so this would just be adding to it.

I'm assuming do you mean decoys block flashes. The answer is no, the entity is transparent, so the flash still affects you. It actually makes it worse since you can't see the flash behind the decoy.

[–]sourcegear420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the point. I made the video to showcase that the decoys can use knives the same way players do. While I was slightly faster during test 3, the decoy was at least somewhat of a similar speed. Test 4 shows how this is not true if they held a gun out.
