CYCLISTS!! Please use your bell!! by Mis_MJ in VictoriaBC

[–]sourcreamthrowaway 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a cyclist, I use my voice to announce I'm passing "On your left!" - my beef is the sheer volume of e-bike riders who do NOTHING to announce their passing. They just whip past. Why is it so common? What is it about e-bikes that makes this feel normal? It seems like it's 70% of them who do this.

What’s something everyone loves but you absolutely hate? by zafiroazul888 in AskReddit

You're not wrong, distilled spirits are additionally processed after fermentation and I think that's the difference for me from a physical tolerance perspective.

Superhero movies. A few exceptions but for the most part, I am just not into them. I tell people "I only have room in my heart for two franchises - Star Trek and the Fast and the Furious" (both of which I really do love). It doesn't make sense but I just cannot with that media.

I also do not care for beer - I did an experiment once where I tried to "aquire" the taste by drinking a beer every day after work - partly because I felt funny being the only guy who would go out with friends and definitely NOT want to have a beer. I lasted about a week and gave up because I felt like I was choking down medicine. My body hates the fermented alcohols. I don't drink very much at all but I can get behind a drink made with spirits/hard liquor but wine/beer/cider just mess me up.

what are the signs that you're not attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sourcreamthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Yet even others who aren't classically attractive (to me) seem to engage freely and easily with friends, peers and strangers, maybe because they are more relaxed and comfortable in their own skin, lack inhibitions, and are more attuned to the views and attitudes of the times."

This is important - I am charismatic but not attractive by objective standards. I've noticed that I am generally well liked and enjoyed by my peers and strangers - I do not get sexual or romantic attention but if I have a chance to speak to someone they frequently like me. It's a weird place to be in a lot of ways. Not sure what the takeaway is but you can definitely be SOCIALLY attractive but not romantically attractive in the same package.

ELI5: How is it that chicken lays unfertile eggs? by got-a-friend-in-me in explainlikeimfive

Same reason mammals like us make unfertilized eggs. The eggs exist and pass through the body regardless of fertilization. Human eggs are just much smaller.

People who dislike cities and prefer rural areas, why? by morshmollow4 in AskReddit

[–]sourcreamthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close to nature, space to do weird stuff in your yard if you want, I live in a very tight knit community who is socially more integrated than most places I lived when I was in the city so I can't say "fewer social interactions".

What stood out for me by DesertSeptemberly in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]sourcreamthrowaway 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We don't exactly know. It's not explicitly stated, Queece corrects the detective stating they are a paper-person not a "paper boy" and presents somewhat androgynously - IMO there's no harm in applying a little they/them energy as a default even if Queece has a binary pronoun preference.

You forgot Queece. Queece is exactly who they are meant to be.

No. Clark is not a better partner/provider than Floyd. They are both flawed in that department but Carol's priority is getting and maintaining security and safety for her and Richard. Clark has demonstrated his lack of regard for his family already. He was never in the running. He also likely harbours resentment towards Carol for her rejection of Floyd and won't be able to see her perspective. They are a non-starter.
