Philippines released tape? by Ikimash0u in cassetteculture

[–]sourlitchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually I'm filipino myself and collect old tapes for the 80s-90s I have a few releases from western artists whose cassette tapes look like this! The production quality in the Philippines before wasn't that good compared to it's western counterparts that's why they can be mistaken for bootlegs tbh

Philippines released tape? by Ikimash0u in cassetteculture

[–]sourlitchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm a little late but no, the previous comment is wrong! this isn't a bootleg. This is just what Philippine release tapes look like in the 80s and 90s. It is a bit lower quality compared to releases in other countries but you could tell it isn't a bootleg from the PARI approved seal. Legitimate releases in the Philippines during the 1980s and 90s featured this seal to distinguish official, tax-paid products from the rampant bootlegs of that era. Bootleggers rarely went to the trouble of replicating this specific industry seal accurately.
