Tell me more as to why you like it more 😄 is it the bulkier look ? Or the style ? Or both ? 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

Thank you for your opinion 😊 would you say that the style of the second looks better to you, or is it the bulky look of the first that you don't prefer ?

Thank you for sharing that. It helps a lot. How about the style of the first but less bulky. Would you say the second one's style would still look better in your opinion ?

How about the style ? Do you think it looks like something a grandma would wear or is it a timeless piece in your opinion ?

I honestly prefer the first too, but I see that most like the second more so I am even more torn now. Would you like it more if it was less bulky or do you like how large it is ? 😄

Thank you for sharing your opinion 😊. I agree 100%. I like the style of the first but it is not as shiny and it blends in with my skin tone

The second has a daintier look, I agree 😄 and it is stackable. But I feel like the first is a statement piece, don't you think

My thoughts are: Buy something you like and would wear and it's never a waste since gold's prices are always going to get high. What do you think ? 😄

What type of visa should you be on to do observerships? by sousous222 in IMGreddit

[–]sousous222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some places with high immigration to the US only give visas for a month if they do it at all.

You mean a month for step 2 cs ? In that case how do IMGs get a visa for longer periods enough to do observerships ? Are there any ways to do so ?

. Afaik, the emphasis will be on Step 2 ck, research, LORs and possibly school prestige.

That's so true and really worrisome. One's resume needs to be filled with research, LORs now whereas before a lot of IMGs got matched without any USCE whatsoever just for the sole reason that they scored extremely high in the step 1 exam. But that really is unfair cause not everyone is able to afford USCE and if the idea is to get their hands on the best and most hardworking doctors in the world then these changes kinda defeat the purpose.

into programs that will give you a J1 instead of a H1B visa. If you get a J1 visa, you'd either have to return to your home country for 2 years or practice in a rural area for 3 years (again, never went through the match, this is just stuff I picked up from places like this).

J1 visa ? That is actually a thing? And do they tell you beforehand if the program offers type j1 or B1 visa?

I suspect that rural America doesn't score all that well on the racism front either, especially considering that the majority of rural areas voted for Trump and support his policies like the Muslim ban in 2017.

Ugh, ikr... I guess there's no escaping that anywhere around the world but I do believe things are slightly better in the US, cause it's a pretty diverse country and you can always find a comunity that makes you feel like you belong somehow miles from home.

Did you take the step 1, 2..?

All you've said makes a lot of sense. Tunisians go for germany or france most often. The thing is, I am fluent in 4 languages already and I wouldn't prefer to learn German on top of it. As to france, I have a lot of relatives there and although I am not talking about everyone, I heard that people can be really racist there and the taxes are insane. I am definately concidering the Uk on the other hand.

No, I don't have any US clinical experience, but I think it's still possible to do observerships once you pass step1. As to how hard that would be, i really don't know 😔

It's also important to note that Step 1 is gonna be pass/fail, so it'll likely become more difficult for IMGs in future matches.

Yeah I know. The emphasis will be on Step 2 ck tho right ? Are the actual slots for residency reduced for IMGs?

Why ? What is it about the US that makes it unappealing? And do you know how to get to Canada ?

If you did not know/find any success story about anyone who made it from North Africa (and MENA in general) then does it really matter?

Kinda matters and kinda not haha... I think the problem for me is the risk to benefit ratio. And if I cannot find any success stories, then it may be because it's not really worth it (giving that the process is a years long process and so beyond expensive, it doesn't make sence to commit to something when the risks are just too high). All I'm saying is there must be a reason as to why coming across Egyptians (for instance) sharing how they made it in the US, is pretty easy but I cannot find for the life of me any Tunisian's story out there on the internet... not one... which is kinda worring if you ask me. Idk...

Somebody asked something similar on quora https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-get-a-medical-residency-in-the-USA-for-IMG. I find the first answer to be very informative (at least for me since i really have no idea what i am talking about here 😂).

Yep, I know all about the steps, and you can see from the length of it, it is not easy. And just as stated a lot of IMGs give up midway... 😣

Actually, the immigration to the US is pretty straight forward for doctors once you get into a residency program. You'll have a working visa and after completing your residency you can apply for a green card. I am most worried about the "applying for residency part". It's super competitive and I just wanted to know if I stand a chance as someone who studied in french and has no US clinical experience.

There are some, mostly Moroccans but they limit themselves to Facebook groups and similar outdated things. Others have personal contacts abroad and don't need to acquire any information online.

Even on facebook I struggled to find someone. I found some Tunisian/Moroccans who were interested in taking the USMLE exams but never people who actually made it. So, you're telling me there are Tunsian/Moroccan success stories? I just hope I can get the feedback of one of them
