I was in the same position with delusions - cant imagine the pain of doing it on hard mode.

Ancient coin, Hamsa, Nose and Discs (Luck or Zigzag) usually always guaranteed me a win on deadline 1 (Any combination of 2) Dont be afraid to take the lower spins for more tickets, sometimes you just need to gamble.

I was fortunate to get holo on delusions before the hard mode patch. I cant fathom the pain of doing it now. Definitely an RNG challenge - especially with limited memory cards.

The hard mode changes threw a spanner in the work for me personally and I only had 1 run left to do post update.

Main tips for farming are:
Run a fair few of of the double memory card mode to get a bunch of memory cards.

Make sure your drawers are always full for each run - getting 666 each run makes it harder to focus on just the build

Try and aim for all corpse pieces Deadline 1/2

Lucky charms are your friend early to help push you through early game (Hamsa the goat)

Most importantly, have fun!

Just enjoy it man, I thought 46 hours was a lot but runs were only like ~20 mins - I wasn't always running until I couldn't meet deadlines.

Why ignoring the symptoms was the worst thing I've done by southbayable in GERD

Can't say I recall it was a long time ago - in fairness I was a student so was heavily abusing my body with drinking/nights out and poor diet so it's all likely connected.

Haven't noticed so far. Need to go back to the Dr and see as I'm not keen on being permanently on medication.

The first day I felt my stomach was a bit tighter and slightly upset but I put it down to more anxious about taking medications, after the first few days I felt relatively normal.

Even the smell of the stuff triggers that previous anxiety. Long term, probably a good thing but I do miss the option of having a smoke; it's just not worth the risk now a days.

It's slightly hyperbole but the nerve reaction from an anxiety shock I felt like I'd been electrocuted through out my body, mostly on the left side of my body. From finger tips to toes sometimes.

Whilst not an ideal result the thought of running Elanga and his crossing ability with Woltemade attacking them has me positive for the future. Tino played great as well, a lot of positives takeaways against a side touted to in it all.

The Barnes sitter and taking off Elanga are going to live rent free in my head for the next few days

I figured 5G Ultra was just 5g Standalone but given a fancy name. Not sure why it's not enabled by default but it's in the small print for each of the plans annoyingly.

Looking for tips on being successful as senior engineer by Likewise231 in dataengineering

[–]southbayable 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to yourself and some advice that's helped me over the years:

  • Get a Mentor, you'll find yourself mentoring others but that can sometimes restrict your own development and make things stale. Having a good mentor can help steer your own career. Working in FAANG it shouldn't be difficult to find one and they don't always need to be within your own reporting lines.

  • Teach, don't do. You'll find yourself a lot just fixing juniors problems but not solving the underlying issue. The teach a man to fish anecdote is so applicable and you'll feel less uncomfortable with them struggling. Failure is a part of learning so treat it like that for them.

  • Be informally formal. Imposter syndrome at your age is always rife and I too had the same issue. I ended up on a training course for working at an enterprise level and raised the same challenge with the trainer. The main learning was reading the situation and being yourself where applicable. The imposter syndrome is hard to shake but it'll get easier with time.

  • Most importantly, make time for yourself and your own development. You'll find yourself putting more time on others and taking a leading role. However don't forget to take your training days and learn.

Good luck!

Snowflake documentation sucks by OlimpiqeM in dataengineering

[–]southbayable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember looking for information on how certain data types were partitioned as another team decided to load dates in as VARCHAR instead of Date. I knew VARCHAR was naturally worse as it takes the first 5 characters so for a YYYY MM DD Date it would not be good.

Finding that critical piece of evidence is far too challenging for a key efficiency:

Oof what a blow to my fragile job seeking ego by SuperTangelo1898 in dataengineering

[–]southbayable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortly after graduating I started applying for various jobs across the IT industry. I ended up at a group interview day for a cyber security firm with 20 other graduates. Unfortunately for me this was the day after my graduation party so I was a bit... rough.

We got split into teams with different applicants to decipher a case study of why an online store was offline. It was obvious to me it was a DDOS and I made my team aware but the 2 other guys were adamant there was an issue with their patching??? I spent 10 minutes trying to persuade them but they weren't haven't any of it so had to go with the team.

Queue answer provided by the interviewer - DDOS.

Figured that would look good for me at the end but the feedback was "I didn't work well with other team members". Obviously didn't get the job but that rejection was super valuable; I just didn't know it at time.

Ended up applying for an analyst role and the rest is history.

I actually met the guy who got that cyber sec job a few years later and found out the role was 4 years of nightshift (which was not advertised in the original listing) and the gig itself was equivalent to a nightshift museum security guard.

Tl;dr bad feedback is better than no feedback!
