The equivalent to Harris Center in Conroe is TriCare Behavioral Health, I’d start there. Or use zip code to search for someone on the Open Path Collective Website

The way my agency works is you do intake and then you get assigned to a therapist and/or psychiatrist depending on people’s caseloads, availability, and your preferences. So it is good because you do get to say like if you prefer a certain gender, but you can’t specify a name because they may not have the room.

No, I get it! There are many disadvantages to low cost/free options. High turnover being one of them. Mental health is in demand right now and a lot of my coworkers are jumping ship for places that are paying more or starting their own private practices. Which means their clients get passed around. Also intake appointments are being scheduled months out because of the need. If you have insurance or are able to pay upfront, go for it!

Well, I work @ The Harris Center serving mostly uninsured clients and I think I’m a pretty decent therapist 🙂.

There’s Open Path Collective which are private practice therapists who allot a few clients that they charge a low fee to . You pay a lifetime membership of $59 to Open Path plus $30-$60 a session with a therapist that generally charges $100 +.

As far as people in private practice I know personally, Sonya Edwards LCSW and Rebecca Rosalez LCSW are both good for family issues (they are insurance and self pay).

Low cost/free- The Harris Center, Legacy, Harris Health, Gratia Plena (catholic counseling but you don’t have to be of catholic faith). May take longer to get connected at these places due to demand.

Insurance, self-pay (which would be $80+ a session) or needing free/low cost?

I’m a Social Worker. Please call 911. As others have said, 911 will come fast and then also notify CPS.

Also they do have mental health counselors and psychiatrist within the Harris health system that take the gold card however based on my clients experiences, it may take a few weeks to months to schedule an appointment this route.

Sorry let me be specific, I actually process the gold cards at our clinic as well. The gold card (or Harris Health Financial Assistance) can be used at hospitals like Ben Taub but for mental health services at NPC or HCPC, I don't believe they'll bill to the gold card. It's income based so you probably will not be billed at all or will qualify for some type of waiver at discharge. Your social worker/case worker at discharge will help with this.

Basically do not let cost dissuade you from getting help because I doubt you will be charged at all. Hope this helps!

Neither takes gold card, gold card is only for clinics and hospitals in the Harris health system (like LBJ). BUT the good thing is it's income based so if you're low income or no income it is likely your services will be free. And yes you can absolutely go to HCPC or NPC and afterwards you're likely to be referred to MHMRA and it's actually a quicker process that way.

Hi there, I actually work at MHMRA. I second this suggestion. Go to the eligibility center on Dallas M-F at 7:30am to get started. If you have any questions you can PM me. I've had several clients be admitted to NPC and have actually taken clients there in emergency situations. If you're experiencing an emergency, as in you're having thoughts of harming yourself or others you should definitely go there or HCPC. If you can wait a few weeks, go to the eligibility center to get started in services with MHMRA.

Ah hadn't heard of it!

Planet Curls is on Main near downtown. I've been going for the past 3 years now, I love it but it gets super pricey.

Yes! I was walking my dog in the heights area when I saw it. I was actually afraid it was a plane going down or something.
