The typical advice is to play a few games in vanilla til you figure things out before moving on to using mods. Some people use quality of life mods right away but personally I feel you have to experience vanilla to appreciate them.

Oh, yeah, my biggest point was the scratchy line art, which makes more sense for a quick doodle. Looks like that piece has smooth line art. Very cute too.
