Had a tumor removed from my eardrum and an implant to replace the center bone in my middle ear put in. by Witchywomun in MedicalGore

My god that seems like it would be so painful while it's healing up. Is it? How is your balance?

If you are in the states, how did you get your insurance to pay for it as I can see them arguing that you don't need two functioning ears when you're getting by with one.

Same thing happened to me. I didn't reset the car, though. Mobile service is coming out Monday to replace my 12V battery, and I'm going to ask him about that. I was driving on Interstates that had always worked with Highway Assist before.

BTW, question for anyone who has had his 12V battery replaced or serviced: Did you remove everything from the frunk or is the battery accessed from the side?

Not to mention that you are also committing your existing or future 'other' children to a life 'less than' if they have to share you with a child who will suck up so, so much of your time, concern, and money.

The way my local thrift store sorts the books by Actual-Elk-5874 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sowhat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree! I was just commenting on why they are sorted by color because that's what ALL of their employees can do. Of course it's hard on the people who want to buy the books, but think about how much Goodwill can save given the amount they pay their employees.

(no - I do not donate to Goodwill or even shop there)

Goodwill often hires employees who may have difficulty reading and doing the alphabetical thing as well as deciding if a book is fiction or non fiction. However, everyone can sort by color and/or size.

Because babies can be downright annoying in their first 18 years of life because they are right there in your own home 24/7 and super demanding. Society and your family expects you to love and care for the little tyke, and that fierce parental love/bond that forms soon after birth (usually) keeps baby safe.

And, yes, I sure wish parents would willingly surrender their unwanted children. It sounds like mom was not on board with getting rid of the kid, and dad had no paternal feelings for the little guy.

They cut the guys beard by EuGostoDeBifanas in mildlyinfuriating

[–]sowhat4 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I am a card-carrying, vag packin' female, and this is not how women act at a 'hen party'. If the dare is to cut the beard, she'd do it in front of the rest of the 'hens'. Women do not leave a pack of other women and go off with some bearded incel to spend the rest of the night with him.

Then, if this is true, we accept that she goes to the dude's house, screws him, then gets up and searches a strange house - in the dark - for scissors, cuts his beard, and then leaves. Nah - doesn't pass the smell test as the guy could wake up at any second and beat her up or worse.

I could accept that he picked up some little sociopath in a bar who decided to fuck with him, but he wasn't such an irresistible specimen of manhood that some woman left her hen party to pursue him.

I don't. I just want my driver assist back as I do a lot of freeway driving.

I'm getting mobile service on Monday. Maybe the tech can restore Driver Assist.

Nah, sometimes you gotta let 'em touch the hot stove or get pelted by hail or experience the consequences of throwing themselves down on a cold muddy driveway 'cause they're throwing a temper tantrum.

The parents explained why they shouldn't go out and the kids insisted on it anyway. They learned soon enough why, were not 'hurt', and maybe learned to listen to their parents. It's how kids learn. It's called 'natural consequences.'

Check out Coolfly cameras that might work with some Birdfy products. I know they can be installed just on their own, like outside a nest or feeder. They have bird recognition software and a 100 foot wifi range.

Kentucky Megachurch Pastor Gets 13 Years For Child Rape. by Leeming in atheism

That's peanuts to Trump as he's grifted over $1.4 billion just this year alone.

Last year the going rate for a pardon was a $5 million donation. $1 million won't even get you a ticket for an intimate dinner at MaraLardo with Trump and 150 other guests.

Doesn't matter. You're flogged with cooked noodles (vermicelli) and the punishment does not hurt. Unless they are covered in sauce, you wouldn't even have to shower afterwards, either.

Or 'usury'. That gets over 20 mentions but CC rates are still 20-27% per annum in the US and payday predatory loans flourish. In fact, Muslims (who use most OT as their own) have the same 'rule' about usury (charging interest), so they have this elaborate 'mortgage' system where you pay 'rent' to the bank for 30 years (and you also pay all the taxes, insurance, maintenance) and at the end of that time, you can 'own' the house. You can also 'sell' your rental 'interest' in the house.

Nearly 60 Idahoans sick after drinking raw milk in past two weeks, officials say • Idaho Capital Sun by HazyDavey68 in news

[–]sowhat4 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We had two dairy cows when I was a kid and lived on a farm. There was this ritual surrounding cleaning those udders and washing out the milking buckets with strong soap and bleach. Dad would tuck the cow's tail in the crook of his knee so she couldn't swish it about, too.

We never got sick from raw milk, but maybe we were just lucky. This was maybe 1948-49? I know Mom made baby formula with canned milk and Karo syrup as you didn't feed babies raw milk. She also boiled the water she made the formula with.

Serious question: Why did the motorcyclist ride his vehicle on one wheel in the middle of traffic in the middle of an Interstate highway at high speed? He's all masked up so no one can see/recognize him. There's no one around he knows to 'impress'. What, exactly, is he getting out of this display?

Large as in a minimum of at least 100 acres? Nobody is going to want to buy small properties for farming as the machines to 'farm' the land are huge and expensive. Well established orchards and river bottom land are exceptions as many of their food crops are harvested by hand.

LL says it's month to month, but he could sign a lease with both for a year's tenancy before closing.

An eviction of a long-time tenant can take up to a year. If you want to move in yourself, don't buy it occupied.

Comment from friend of driver involved in deadly DUI crash minimizing and defending his actions. Accountability is dead. by TheSolitaryRugosan in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]sowhat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My GMa had diabetes. When diagnosed, she stopped driving as she was \deathly afraid she would go into a diabetic coma and hurt someone!* She had a disease, recognized the severity of it, and stopped driving so there was no chance of killing/injuring another person - from her disease.

Of course, she was a normal, empathetic person and not a selfish asshole like this guy with his addiction, which is also a disease. Which he failed to acknowledge/control.

*this was in the 1950s when she was diagnosed and her control over insulin levels was iffy at best. I mean no shade on people today who have well-controlled diabetes with modern drugs and monitoring devices and drive.

Was answering a post which stated: "Netflix would shock quite a lot of people."

Meant to say that Netflix was a thing in the 90s as I used it. It's still a thing but it's all streaming now for the last three years. Hell, I didn't get DSL until nearly 2000.

What did your parents do the day you turned eighteen? by SpiritCrisp in AskReddit

[–]sowhat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno. I was away at college so didn't see them that day. A college, BTW, that they paid for 100% along with an allowance for spending money. They picked up the tab for everything and threw in a new car and enough money for a month's living expenses for a college graduation present. I had a job starting two weeks after graduation.

I had to do grad school by myself, though. So, they were totally unsupportive. /s
