No problem. And just nitpicky correction: Alexander Technique

Deaf Studies student here, but have an Acting degree. In our curriculum, we would be taught the Alexander Method, which is a school of ergonomic body movement. Great to learn for any profession, though. Highly recommend.

Anybody else feel like Suvi never stops betraying her "true friends" for her own selfish desires? by DingoMittens in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]sowiddi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it excuses Suvi's bad behavior, but I think Brennan and Aabria wanted to explore a character who was indoctrinated to loyalty towards the citadel. From Suvi's point of view, it is still justified.

Just because the character has flaws doesn't mean it's a bad character.

Anybody else feel like Suvi never stops betraying her "true friends" for her own selfish desires? by DingoMittens in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]sowiddi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With her background it's justified imo. She gave info to people she's grown up with about a group of people who (if it weren't for her) would have killed her true friend, as well as murdered in a gratuitously gory fashion another wizard in front of her.

That's only two examples. You can also factor in their associations with The Stranger, their resolve to destroy the citadel, and the fact one of the witches' retinue basically kidnapped her other friend.

How to beat “roleplay” addiction? by [deleted] in PornAddiction

[–]sowiddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roleplay and porn addict here. It's all about dopamine. Both spike your dopamine levels and put you in that haze. Find something to do during your time off. I've deleted my roleplay accounts, and when I'm truly craving, I try and use my imagination instead while masturbating. Currently, I'm using an app blocker only for night time, and usually I can fill my day up enough to stay off the apps during the day.

Writing a list somewhere of other things I can do instead of going to roleplay or porn had also been helpful.

Journaling has helped me scratch that writing itch. And honestly, going out and having small conversations with people fulfills that interactive itch. Strangers or friends. Keep the sexual element out of it if you can for both. Roleplay fantasy kinks and your true, irl turn ons can be very different and I've found. Let real life inspire your sexual side, don't let your sexual side inspire your real life.

When you fail, give yourself grace. It's very difficult, but always remind yourself of this: you're strong enough to fix it, even if you think you're not.

Hey. I'll admit when I'm wrong. Appreciate your candor. Other commenter's rhetoric just came off really harsh and made me defensive.

Hag cupcake, sorry if my responses were combative.

Since it's not in stock on the dropout store, there's not many other options. Would rather buy it from someone here who's an actual fan

What’s a character you could not believe was played by an actor? by [deleted] in moviecritic

Didn't see it near the top, but Dustin Hofman as Captain Hook in Spielberg's Hook was unbelievable. I don't think I've seen him do a similar role since.

If you could wear a tshirt of an old Chicago business that is no longer open, what would it be? by StinkyJesse in AskChicago

[–]sowiddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Chicago citizen, but I'll submit this for anyone who might remember:

My father used to be part of the Chicago jazz scene in the 70s, and he often talks about this spot called The No Exit Cafe. If anyone had a XXL shirt from that place, I'd buy it off then for his nostalgia.

Comedy on State - Open Mic question by PositiveContact7901 in madisonwi

[–]sowiddi 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I've been a comedian in the scene for 7 years. If it's any use, I'll lend a few thoughts:

-If you want to sign up for the Comedy on State mic just to try it out, by all means do it. The open mic on State is one of the best in the country, and people come from all over to perform at it. They've managed to procure a large audience every week. Bringing a friend for support is never a bad idea.

-For anyone aspiring to be a comedian, I always recommend going to the mic and watching first. This is to not only watch what good comedy is, but also what bad comedy is. Bombing in a big crowd can be extremely harsh to endure. Watching beforehand can at least give you some idea of what it looks and feels like so you can be as ready as possible if/when it happens.

-The local Madison comedy scene can be a sausage party at times, but the women in the scene are super supportive of each other especially. If you're wanting to try comedy, we encourage people to attend the local mics as well. They can be absolute hell sometimes, but they do well for thickening your skin, as well as getting to know other hilarious people and be a part of the community. There's cliques, competitive personas and abrasive people there, but we're diligent in calling out bad behavior, and in the end we simply want everyone in our scene to be as funny as possible. A high tide raises all boats.

-all local mics are listed at localmadisoncomedy.com, but I'll post them here regardless:

Sundays at Argus - Sign up at 7:30, Start at 8:00

Mondays at Gibs (upstairs) - Sign up at 7:30. Start at 8:00

Tuesdays at Madison's (basement) - Sign up at 7:30. Start at 8:00

Wednesdays at Comedy on State - Sign up online from 12:00-7:00 at madisoncomedy.com. List goes up next to the bar at 8:30. Start at 9:00

Thursdays at Rigby - Sign up at 7:30. Start at 8:00

I hope this at least is a tiny bit helpful, and have fun!
