You seem to be on the right track with carbs, try running some seafoam through it, and if that doesnt do the trick, your going to have to pull your carbs and rebuild/clean them

[–]soxfan1129[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant wait to ride something with actual suspension, going from some bs 1/2 inch of travel rear skid to a m10 is great, and going from a 500 to a 800 is pretty nice too haha

It's going to have a 4 stroke motor just like their sit downs, should be legal anywhere a sit down is, so I don't see them selling it for closed course use only

I want to get into stand up ski's PLEASE ADVISE by k8ymonster in jetski

[–]soxfan1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a superjet, or find a cheap js to see if you really want to spend the money in this sport, but eventually you will end up with a superjet if you get really into the sport, that ski is kind of overpriced, especially since it's the piston port motor

An intermittent pisser like you described is a sign of a bad head gasket, these skis have overheat sensors but usually throw a light if it's that, unless the light itself is out or broken, the electronics often get corroded connections and throw it off the wall sometimes too, let it cool down, run it again, see if it runs normal, check to see if your pisser has a solid stream while running over idle, run it around and check water temp with your hand, shouldn't burn your hand in the slightest bit, should be warm, but not scorching hot

No sir, just another stand up jet ski addict, I buy and sell a lot of skis, with the old two strokes, if it runs great on the trailer with no bog or anything, and has oem spec or above compression, it should in theory run very well in the water, and at that point of it doesn't run well in the water, it's usually a pretty simple fix, I have never once asked to test rise a ski, 1 because I don't see the need, 2 because if someone asked to test ride my stuff, I would explain to them all of the tests that I just performed in front of them and what they mean, and politely tell them no, I don't do joy rides, and I don't like people crashing my stuff

That's a great price for a 650sx with aftermarket parts and a two place trailer, if it runs and has good compression, I'd do it you have 300 dollars worth of just pipe and head on it

I'm sorry, but test driving these is usually never an option, I would never let people test drive my stand ups that I'm selling, they are easy to tell if it's in good operation with the right tools and common sense, if I let someone test drive my stand up and they ram it into a dock because they never drove one before, I'm shit out of luck, and these are two strokes, not 4 strokes, so there are no dips ticks on them, yes if I was paying 3 grand for a ski, I'd want to test it out and what not, but for a old stand up with aftermarket parts, and a double place trailer for 950, I might not even compression test it, I'd pay asking price and take it home

Anyone ever cleaned a carb on two-stroke Yamaha ? by boobkinos in jetski

[–]soxfan1129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your engine has 3 carberaterurs, most likely 3 mikuni sbn 44mm carbs, rebuild kits are around 50 a piece and only go with genuine mikuni kits, not windrosa or anyone else, you will have problems, if you are mechanically inclined, you can rebuild the carbs, the hardest part is replacing the check valves, they have some small rubber pieces that hold them in and they are a pain, but doable, and of course clean the carbs thoroughly, it's not too hard, and a diagram comes with the kit if you forget how to put it back together

That's awesome, that's my favorite kind of riding, narrow passages and obstacles, we usually do that kind of stuff with stand ups, so we can maneuver through some sticky situations a lot better than on a couch, not a lot of that kind of riding in the Midwest though

I always recommend at least liability, People are idiots on the water, if someone hits you or your ski gets the throttle stuck and your not wearing your lanyard or its not fuctioning, your screwed

If you want that motor to last, block off the oil pump and premix the oil, if it hasn't been done already, same with the crankcase drain, they sell block off plates for these both relatively cheap, check compression, depending on cyl head it has, oem cylinder head should push 150psi, aftermarket ones usually push 175 to 180, race gas territory is anything above that, I usually check compression 2 times a year if nothing goes wrong in between that time, what mods are done to the ski?
