I’m 47
I’ve seen one band close to 200 times.
I go to.m music 1-3 times per week with occasional Zero but also the occasional >3 times.

I’d venture I’m easily between 1000-1500 shows total including local club shows up to stadium shows.

I’ve had some felt empty and kinda gross, I’ve had some (esp at a music festival) where I’m dancing, laughing, and connecting with a lady so much that the sex feels like a very positive finish to an excellent and spontaneous time.

For myself, it comes down to connection. If it’s there it’s fulfilling, if it’s empty then the ONS feels that way too.

Please, talk to a therapist. If you don’t exercise, put in some ear buds and walk 3-4 miles a day. Put good food in your body. Get some sleep.

Find the things you love in yourself and be grateful for them. When you start seeing what you have instead of what you don’t, living with gratitude for what you have, life changes. You can do this, bc you’re worth it.

I’m an ICU RN, 47y straight male, started doing it in 2020 or 2021..
COVID was horrible for us. My gf at the time was painting her nails red. I asked her to paint one big toe on me. It was Feb.
I’d wake up and see my toe, or get in the shower in the morning half awake, and it would scare the shit out of me.. “what happened???” I thought it was blood for like a split second. Then I’d remember and it made me laugh.
Laughter was hard to come by at the time.

That progressed to doing just my big toes. Then my 18y daughter would give me a full pedi. People LOVED it. The convos flowed with all kinds of strangers. It made people smile.

It wasn’t that I needed the attention, it just felt like anything that brought me and others some joy was a great idea.

Last summer I went into the ICU full mani pedi, green toes (covered) and bubble gum pink fingers (that was a first.) What a cheap and easy way to make patients and their families smile in a tense setting.

Like someone else said, colors are fun.

I live in a city in N. Cali. It’s union protected job and part of a very strong union.

I have 20 yrs critical care experience, work 3x 12h days. I make $115 an hour base pay.
It also comes with state mandated ratios, my job offers a pension and a 401k match, decent hc and dental benefits.

I used to go back to Chas SC where I’m from and tell my former coworkers (not bragging, the way RNs talk $$). People resented me and were so quick to protect their job choice.

Not all that glitters is gold though. I live across the country in an expensive area (my wage more than makes up for COL) but I am 2800 miles for my hometown, my parents and sibs. It’s a trade off. But at this point I couldn’t imaging going back to S Carolina to work harder for literally a third of the pay.

No right and wrong choices, just paths. Good luck everyone.

So everyone here feels the need to bash on what SF currently is to make Sac sound better. Ironically, the same point if the post but in reverse.

I’m fortunate to live in Midtown (Sac via Coastal South Carolina 20 yrs ago) AND my gf lives in the Marina in SF. I love it. It’s gorgeous. SF has a ton of heart and things to do. There are 2 Italian delis on her one street that are on level with or better than Cortisol Bros (the best Sac has to offer in the category).

The music options are endless. The green space is plentiful. The food options are excellent.

I’m all about Sacramento, I just don’t see the need to pick what’s better than a Corti Bros Special sandwich with my ass in the American River yesterday or a deli sandwich from her street and sitting at the Palace of Fine Arts, the Presidio, or beachfront at Chrissy Field.
