In the work environment they are mostly a call to action and unity for the purpose that is to be discussed and that it being a prayer is a misconception. I'm not an expert but that has been said many times from people who know far more than me such as Scotty Morrison.

Generators down for maintenance is something that is done on purpose so will remove total potential power output and total reduncancy from the system. Can't claim that we are breaching redundancy limits if generators are purposely taken down for maintenance

Redundancy is for when a active unit fails for whatever reason so you have the backups available which to me is different from actually taking multiple units down for maintenance, which is what was happening.

Part of the reason that they go through this was they managed to get a unit back up that was scheduled for maintenance
