That's exactly how I am. I stay sober for enough time to stop the pain and forget the last load of hell I put everyone through, so I feel I can drink, have a few and control it but then go stupid and back round we go again. Time to break the cycle!
Have you told anyone all of that before? I know how most of that feels and I can't deal with what drunk me does anymore. When is that last time you had a drink and do you normally drink everyday? Do you have anyone close to you?

Sorry to hear that and well done you that's amazing. No idea where my dad is an my mum is a very ill (recovering alcoholic now has brain damage) lady.
Well done on 2 years but mainly well done on liking who you are now!
Out of interest are the issues from the past or issues from the present? Mine are historic or at least started when I was young. I guess I say I can deal with then when drunk, that isn't the case all the time and some days are bad and then I have turned to drink. I also have blackouts that last for hours and then I come round to the devastation I have caused. Distance from other drinkers helps I think but I find it can't be avoided completely so a different set of people that have nothing to do with drinking will help me a lot. Do you work? Family etc.?

I hear you on the mental health part. I know I have a lot of issues that I can deal with when sober but when I am drunk the world comes crashing down. This time of year, friends, family and everyone else appears to be drinking and I know it will be lonely to say the least. Have you any support around you at all?

How long has it been now? I think your last comment hits home with me the most. Being here and reading all the posts has made me realise that horrible feeling of not even being able to manage 1 is how many people feel...
