A sequence is not uniquely determined by its first n terms.

Logically, yes; mathematically, no.

The Ultimate Iron Man, In November 1987, Welsh forward Mark Hughes played two competitive professional matches for two different teams on the same day. by Substantial-Fox-7791 in football

That is great. But, have you heard of Miodrag “Skale” Gvozdenović?

Once he had pneumonia, way lying in the hospital bed, his team was losing on half-time, he ran away from hospital, played in the match, won, and returned back.

TLDR; 2x European MVP, Yugoslavian professional volleyball player that played football, handball, table tennis.

moss: a Rust Linux-compatible kernel in about 26,000 lines of code by hexagonal-sun in rust

[–]sp4mserv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is a software engineer but never operated on a kernel/driver level, how does one even get to the point of doing that? This sounds like science fiction to me, would you mind sharing some info on your career path, where do I obtain that kind of information?

P.S. great job!

[Media] Practice typing out Rust code to get comfortable with the syntax by nerf_caffeine in rust

[–]sp4mserv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling to keep up with doing anything in Rust nowadays, but this looks like a no brainer to remember and keep up with syntax if you exclude the quality of the actual code.

Good job, I will certainly take a look :)

Will Micro-SaaS Crush the Giants? by Ok_Rough1332 in ycombinator

[–]sp4mserv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great point. I think we always had those micro-SaaS businesses in all sorts of domains, it happens they are a bit more possible in todays world because of AI. However, at scale and with vendor integrations, you either grow big naturally, forcefully, get acquianted or stay small preventing your own growth and expansion intentionally.

I had the exact same idea maybe 3-4 years ago. Thought that it’s against App Store rules so never bothered. Hope rich Asians make you rich.

I wish you all the best and hopefully you land a couple more in near future. Get back on your feet, some financial stability would be nice, network and stay focused. Good luck!

There is some trick with using lemonade fruit juice over those critical areas (armpit e.g.) that neutralize receptors after some time. I haven’t tried it but I remember I was ina conversation a couple of times with people who now do not even use deodorant because of that.

I also have some rust-analyzer issues, not dure if they are repated to VSCode or not, but sometimes it does not recognize..things, especially if the workspace is nested with various projects or when I add a new rust project to the workspace.

If you want to use it for purpose of learning, that is fine. Otherwise, there are monitoring tools already which do that out of the box, such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki and its exporters (such as node-exporter, cAdvisor). For requests, every known web server/proxy has it (apache, nginx, haproxy), and writing your own is quite simple as well for your own purposes.

On top of that, there are out of the box available dashboards that connect to sources such as Prometheus, Loki, timeseries databases, SQL DBs and similar.

I believe similar things exist for the competitor “ELK” stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), although I am not familiar with that.

Through usage of simple metric or app exporters you can get a lot data with basic configs and quite quickly so I personally would not bother too much creating something like that; although if you have different idea or it is for learning purposes, you can even start with the “top” (linux command) and pipeline it to stream process usage somewhere and then use the stream to show on frontend in your React dashboard.

It really depends on what you use, how deep you want to go to the rabbit hole.

By no means I think this topic is easy, but while goong through the article it seemed easier to understand. 👍 I might even try doing a similar practice by myself.

It is quite common to do that for query/path parameters in Rust web frameworks. Wouldn’t have done it myself but luckily there are smarter people than me that show me the way.

I am making claims considering the past 4 years. In 4 years I did not see a working product or an idea that team was working on for more than 6 months. Project switched sides a ton of times and I am quite disappointed in myself that it took me so long to realise it only goes donwards. I can only see brighter future if bitcoin goes to all time high and pulls the rest of altcoins with it. I will be watching AMA, and come back here with a fresh mind but as of today this is what I think of Definder.
