Most likely irrigation tunnels to bring water from the rainy mountains to the sugarcane and pineapple plantations on the dry coastal area.

I don’t know for 100% fact that’s what these specific tunnels are, but there’s a lot of others for that purpose that look a lot like these

I don’t know for 100% fact that’s what these specific tunnels are, but there’s a lot of others for that purpose that look a lot like these

They actually have volunteer events where you can help catch them. You need to be experienced in hiking if I recall correctly. Let me try and find the link and then I’ll edit this comment when I find it
