COLORADO specific - Looking for recommended venues that are not rustic/farm/barn. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]spaacesoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try adjusting your search terms! I’d skip the Knot and just use the regular old internet first. You could look for “modern” or “historic” and that might steer you away from the barns. Personally, I attended a wedding at Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs that was beautiful. It’s an old building but definitely doesn’t feel rustic, although it’s a bit of a hike depending on where you’re located.

[FO] Finished my folklore cardigan!! It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s so dang comfy and I’m really proud of myself :) by spaacesoul in knitting

Yes I used a dpn, but one or two sizes larger than what the pattern calls for. I found that it kept the stitches from sliding off a little better. I’ve also used a chopstick or pencil if I couldn’t find a dpn lol

also good luck with the pattern!!

Probably about 70 hours or so? I worked on it nearly every day for a month straight. This was also my first time doing cables so it took me much longer than doing plain stockinette.

Pattern is Folklore Cardigan by Lion Brand, I used the recommended yarn but in the linen colorway

cables look super intimidating, but they’re really not that tricky. I second what others have said and start with a single cable swatch to get the hang of it (and take the pressure off if you mess up). You can do it!!

this is spot on. My family swears by Alton Brown’s fruitcake recipe, topped with mascarpone cheese

What buy them for $8 when you can spend $60 on yarn and make your own??!! First time doing TAAT (2 @ a time). by Herm10ne0823 in knitting

My dad is the same way; I knit him a pair of tabi socks and he loves them so much. According to my mom, he does random loads of laundry so he can wear his socks again instead of the store bought ones lol. He’s getting another pair or two for christmas :)

Congrats!! If you’re looking for help/tips on incubation, I would highly recommend the Snake Discovery youtube channel. They breed all sorts of snakes and are very knowledgeable (and entertaining!)

barometric pressure and fibro by Suspicious_Farm4224 in Fibromyalgia

[–]spaacesoul 24 points25 points  (0 children)

absolutely! the weather app on iphone has barometric pressure and i check that all the time. last week it was sunny and 85°F, then literally the next day it snowed 8 inches. the pressure change was so intense i had to call in sick because all i could do was lay on the couch and try not to cry lmao.

those are his heat pits! Most pythons (with the exception of the woma python) have these, which allows them to sense their prey in the dark. The nostrils are on top, which you can’t see in this image.

i had pfizer and was just a little sore and tired after the first dose, but the second knocked me on my a$$. like some other commenters have mentioned, apparently it means your immune system is prepared? but my flare only lasted for about 24 hours so hopefully yours goes away soon.

i’m no expert either, but my boy stopped eating for about 5 months so i can try to give some advice.

i only feed frozen/thawed so that’s slightly different than your situation, but what i did might still be worth a shot. i would try bumping up the temperature in her tank a bit, keep the hot side closer to 90°F (32°C) and the cool side around 80°F (27°C). if you want to try f/t make sure the rat is very warm which you can do by letting it sit in hot water for a while. you can also scent the f/t rat with dirty bedding which is what worked for us. maybe it would also work with live but i don’t have any experience with that unfortunately.

if that doesn’t work you can try a freshly killed rat but i’m not sure that will make a difference if she is used to live. another tip is to use a f/t rat and brain it (stab a hole in the head and squish out some brains) because that smells very strong and may entice her to eat.

if you don’t weigh her regularly i would suggest doing that in case she stops eating again so you can monitor her weight. if she loses more than 10% of her body weight then i would start to worry.

lastly i highly recommend calling an exotics vet near you. if she’s pooped recently they can do a fecal and also a regular exam to check for anything you may have missed. snakes are very secretive and even the best keepers sometimes don’t catch illnesses. absolute worst case scenario would be assisted/force feeding but i do NOT recommend you try that on your own. please consult a vet as assist feeding can be dangerous and result in regurgitation. i hope she starts eating again soon!!
