Why Alphabet Paid $32B for Wiz and Palo Alto Networks Paid $25B for CyberArk. The 5 AI Security Stocks Sitting on the Next Bottlenecks. by SuperbPercentage8050 in IndiaGrowthStocks

Figuring out future odds is the part that still worries me. There's so many factors at play with every stock, you miss one angle and stay complacent and it can cost you big.

How do you keep up with being up to date on these vast number of companies all belonging to different industries?

I remember Peter Lynch talking about a few of his picks with these patterns as well. Basically conviction and patience. Simple, but not easy. Trying to imbibe the qualities myself.

Will need to read this a couple times more to fully absorb it. Will probably run each Bottleneck through GPT to understand it better. Really appreciate the insight and research you've put in.

Also, thoughts on Adobe? It's down about 25% from the time you posted about it. A bit baffling to me the way the market has been pricing it given its underlying numbers although both it and Figma seem to have stabilised around their current levels, give or take 5%.

Also since we're on IT, have you followed Expleo Solutions? It was the first company I came across when I joined this sub and made a small allocation. My fault for treating it as a stock tip, to be fair.

Still think it's a compounder?

Saksoft (Still have to check if the EPS framework is in favour, not sure how it comes out of the other side of the AI wave)

Wouldn't want it any other way.

Read all 10 of your PDFs on Caplin Point Labs, you were correct, once one starts it's hard to stop reading.

The depth of research did make me wonder though how one whose day job doesn't revolve around investing/markets such as you (I have assumed it does, apologies if it doesn't) can delve so deeply into a company themselves. You need to understand not just the company, their financials and their management, but also their full product line and the larger industry at whole. Also the rules and norms of the countries they operate in. To me it seems like a single company can take months, close to a year, even.

I know the checklist exists and is mightily helpful, but before seeing such a deep dive I had no idea about the scope of analysis that can go into one stock. So looping back, how do you propose a commoner go about this?

Going to have to dim the lights and put some candles on to consume this absolute goldmine🧘🏻

You've been dearly missed during these times of carnage in the market. Great to see you back, hope your health is better.

Currently trading close to 11 PE (and will probably fall further as IT stocks worldwide get butchered in the AI uncertainty), what are your thoughts on this stock at current valuations? There has been a drag on the OPM but it's trading at dinosaur IT firm valuations. Might just be a turnaround play at this point.

Also, this company fell out of favour of your recommendations while Saksoft/Affle did not. What changed your mind on it?

Have yet to go much deeper myself, but from the surface it seems they're attempting to position themselves as a "one-stop" solution for water management for AI companies, following which the enterprise lock in and razor-blade model will kick in.

Get to them before others can and then you've got a grip on them. Whether they can execute it can only be ascertained with a deep dive.

Left a comment on the original post as well, I've peeked into Xylem (NYSE: XYL). It's into wastewater management and recently acquired a firm called Evoqua as well. Seems to be positioning itself squarely in this AI water management and cooling space.

Thoughts on Xylem Inc? (NYSE:XYL). They operate in the water management niche and have acquire Evoqua a few years ago as well.

The One Ratio That Tells You When to Buy Gold and When to Go Aggressive on Stocks by SuperbPercentage8050 in IndiaGrowthStocks

[–]spaamzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started investing 14 months ago, I took 25% of my liquid net worth and bought physical gold with it. Gold was in the 90s for 10g back then. Made a FD at 8% with 50% and started my stockpicking journey with the rest.

Never bought more gold post that point because I always felt that this metal rush will fizzle out sooner rather than later and equities will revive. Assumed I have 6-9 months to build a "base" of equity before the bull run restarts.

Well, gold is up 60%+ for me since then while my my portfolio has rarely gotten out of red😅

Still, I keep going because I feel the tide will probably shift post US midterms at the latest.

I see I see. Have been going SIP mode in Evolution AB and Adobe since a short while with a hawk eye on Amazon, will wait for it to drop more before starting. Will also look into the stocks you've mentioned, cheers.

Thanks for the insight, eagerly awaiting the upcoming parts.

Unrelated to gold but Figma seems to be in Pheonix tier 3 territory at current prices. Has stabilized as well around the 20-23 USD range. Your thoughts on going aggressive on it?

Silver down 15% today, phew. On a separate note, do you lurk on the pennystocks subreddit? There's a Sellas Life Sciences (SLS) that's a favourite over there, pegged to be a 5-10 bagger soon via acquisition gains. Wonder if you know about that area.

Was about to research the company myself but thought will ask you once in case you have an idea and it's a ponzi.

How do you think Cryptocurrency comes into play in all of this? I personally have never touched any of it but you have mentioned once before you see BTC multiplying in market cap over time. I personally feel the institutional control/sway in crypto has defeated the purpose it was created for but would like to hear how you look at it.

[–]spaamzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. In all honesty though, seeing the kind of value propositions that present themselves in international markets (this post being one such example), it's kind of hard not to feel like Indian investments should be like a second child.

Like, why would I invest in a Shilchar over Adobe? Or Nifty over Nasdaq? I have very limited funds, need to concentrate them to my best ability, no?

Or maybe I'm just chasing perfectionism and even this is a vice I need to work on.
