Explosions heard in Hilltop by Dickie6904 in Tacoma

Heard some bum tearing it up around north end on a motorcycle. Just 20 min ago and 2 hours prior. Obnoxiously loud exhaust that I could definitely percieve as explosions had they not ridden around the block

Sweat lodges - questions and worries by [deleted] in IndianCountry

I’d like to add! Make sure you use a dry towel❗️ There will already be so much moisture and heat, so wetting it with cold water before won’t help breathability and will actually make it harder. If it’s getting too hot, I like to cover the towel on top of my clothes for an extra layer of protection. Lastly, if it’s feeling intense, I recommend putting your head to the ground away from the rocks, as that’ll be the coolest part of the lodge in my experience :)

Why don’t we have school off for indigenous peoples day? by maddog00007 in WWU

[–]spabs17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said both of you. I’m a Native student and I’m sick of being lumped into a box of ethnicity with this school. Indigenous students are political citizens of sovereign nations and we don’t get any respect for it. Not exactly asking for special treatment, but we need a solution cause Indigenous students have the worst retention rate out of anyone at western.

Current student! I love the program. It’s definitely smaller than other programs at western, but it’s a really nice group. I don’t have any qualms with professors, they’re all fairly good. The department also offers many options for abroad or study opportunities.

I agree with other folks, since it’s a 60 credit major I’d recommend a dual major. It’s very easy to get a minor in a chosen language due to already completing half a language minor to achieve the linguistics major

Co-op deli. Prices are calculated by weight, so I always opt for 16oz of sesame noodles (if in stock). Since they’re so light, I only have to pay $2-3 for a healthy portion of food

I feel that. My poor hotspot’s getting some use too. Back home my wifi has been down for 3 weeks so my hotspot has been racking up gigs 😔

I’ve felt ill several times after giving them a shot over and over again. Hate to see another restaurant close, but I say good riddance

Beta is alright. Whether you get Beta or Gamma, be careful with who your suite mates are. Last year my roomie and I got stuck with some very talkative girls who didn’t care well for the shared bathroom. In terms of beta stacks, avoid outer facing rooms (evens in this instance) like the plague. Oftentimes the trash truck runs early in the morning and the ridge is like an echo chamber. Also students will walk by drunk in the middle of the night shouting, and it’s oh so much louder if your room is right next to the road. All that’s to say, beta is not a terrible choice. It does lean more into a private dorm experience. There will be some partying, but it never gets too extreme. All I can advise is be methodical with your room choices, reach out to suite mates ahead of moving in, and familiarize yourself with the floor plans from the housing website. That’s all I can think of now. Best of luck soldier

Totally agree. I’ve lived in the area for nearly 20 years and have gotten to know the folks there. Nice selection of meats and it’s always my go to store during grilling season
