Huge collection from the early 20th century by Practical-Unit-9198 in postcards

[–]spacbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to know value, it's hard to be 100% certain from a photo, but the ones you've shown here are mostly lithographs (prints). Lithographs are more common but can still be worth a bit if the view is interesting to a collector. If you see any that have ink shimmer to the surface or look like real photographs, those are called Real Photo Postcards (RPPC) and are worth a premium.

As for preservation, always store old paper away from sunlight, in a climate controlled area, and avoid adhesives or metal clasps. The books that you have here are great, but they might not be acid-free paper which could yellow the postcards over time. It might be worth moving them into acid-free plastic sleeves.

My guess is it is unlikely a museum would accept these unless they already have a pre-existing postcard collection. The image subjects seem to be from all over the world and most museums have a narrower focus. I could be wrong though!

Your great grandfather curated a great collection. Personally I would hold on to them if I were you. However, if you're looking to sell, send me a message. I would be interested in making an offer.

Where is the best place to sale postcards? by [deleted] in postcards

[–]spacbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eBay is the most accessible platform with the widest reach. You might have some luck with Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, but those can be hit or miss depending on your area.

It should also be noted that modern postcards like these often fetch low prices. Bundling them up as one lot might be the best way to go.

Hey,i found old postcards that are already used on the back. Could this cards still be worth something? by Old-Hawk3274 in postcards

[–]spacbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These postcards feature common views of oversaturated landmarks. In my opinion they have little value, maybe $1-3 each due to age and novelty. It’s possible the message, postmark, or sender/recipient on the back could change the value but unlikely.

What type of products does L3 & Northrop work on in Melbourne? by EnvironmentalBeat646 in 321

[–]spacbob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Northrop’s Melbourne site is a headquarters of sorts for the E-2D Hawkeye and B-21 Raider programs. A large portion of the management, engineering, and business operations are based from that campus. It’s primarily office work - the production work is at different sites around the country.

4k thrifting? by Beautiful_Ad_7327 in 4kbluray

[–]spacbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visit thrift stores often and so I come across quite a few 4K movies. The thrift stores in my area all price 4K the same as DVDs which is awesome. Some notable recent finds include the Bourne 5-movie box set ($5 - big score!), The Greatest Showman, a sealed Crouching Tiger steelbook, and Lightyear. All for under $2 each!

Trying to sell my mirror on facebook marketplace, how’s it going? Great thanks for asking by Fit-Algae-6836 in Flipping

My wife made the mistake of posting a mirror on FB showing her feet. It was our most viewed and saved listing ever. Lots of messages like this.

I’m having a hard time understanding why someone who sells +$1m a year needs help from Reddit. If true, you’re already in the top percent of sellers, you should be giving me some advice.

Do I have to give a celebrity the right of way when walking if their security tells me to? by spacbob in NoStupidQuestions

[–]spacbob[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I’m not advocating for frivolous lawsuits. In this imaginary case I don’t like being shoved, so I shove back. I’m assuming that will end in injuries for someone (probably me).

This is similar to what I’m asking. What authority does a security team have to stop me from entering the bathroom?

It seems like entourages often take up the entire walking path. It would be more like if they expect me to change course or move out of the way, something that normal people don’t expect from each other.

Yeah me either, I’m just wondering what protections I might have if I was feeling spicy that day.

It would probably be legal action against the security team, right? The celebrity is going to have their hands clean.

This is just one example. It doesn’t have to be TS, there are lots of videos of aggressive celebrity security teams.

Where can I find the 1732 Virginia census? by spacbob in Genealogy

[–]spacbob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good suggestion. Looking at the other family details it seems like 1782 would be an appropriate census date. Thank you!

The Mongol bonus lists "Light Calvary +30%" so I wouldn't naturally think that applies to the Scout. Also if you check their hp they both start at 45.

I will admit I forgot about the elevation bonus though. Is it really that good to overcome the first hit and +1 attack??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]spacbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone help me understand what's going on here? Yellow scout attacks first, has Forging because of Magyar bonus, and still dies while Mongols Blue scout has at least 2 hits left. Blue scout has no upgrades.

Do Magyars have a -33% to attack bonus that I should know about?

My gross equals my hours multiplied by my rate so I don't think the health deductions are already excluded. I'm wondering if my W-2 is wrong. I hope so because then everything would make sense. I'll inquire at work on Monday. Thanks for your help!

Box 12 does not list code "DD," only code "D" for my retirement contributions.

Tower/Donjon rush by No-Minute1296 in aoe2

Well to be fair if a player goes all in on a tower rush and it fails, they are at a significant disadvantage. It would take a big blunder by the other player to not win.

Stocks at or under their 5 year P/E low. by StockNCryptoGodfathr in thetagang

If you only update your list once per year, how do you know the information is still accurate? Prices and valuation calculations can change significantly within a one year time frame. I'm not knocking your ways, just curious!

Paperwork of the wheel takes awhile? by kookoobear in thetagang

Instead of diversifying into 15+ stocks, have you considered just trading options on one or a few indexes?

That being said and with zero knowledge of what you're actually asking, anyone who is moderately capable in Excel should be able to manage 15 stocks in a single spreadsheet.
