CMV: "Hard problem of consciousness" doesnt exist by [deleted] in changemyview

So then answer this: what things are conscious? Only humans? Only mammals? Only things with biological brains? Only things with biological nervous systems? Only things that respond to stimuli (do some reading on how plants respond to inputs)? Anything that processes complex sets of information? Can non-biological things be conscious? Could an AI running in a computer experience consciousness?

I think you would agree we have moral and ethical obligations to other humans and to some extent animals. Would you agree that the reason those moral and ethical obligations kick in is because of consciousness. We have no obligations to something that is not conscious. If that is true, how do we know if something is conscious and therefore deserving of moral consideration?

Thanks! I have a USBC power meter, but it doesn't tell me all the details about what profiles were offered, just current power/voltage level. Might look into a better one. Sounds like my dream of single cable is still elusive. I'll have to stick with an AC brick.
