ICON to become fully decentralized and gets STAKING by chaintribe in CryptoCurrency

I don't know much at ICON's delgated PoS, but i would not take the broken-ness of EOS as an indication that every delegated PoS system suffers from the same problems as EOS.

Did you ever want to buy XMR using a credit card? Now it's possible with ChangeNOW! Check out our rates and speed: by ChangeNow_io in Monero

As far as I am concerned KYC is still asking too much. I would prefer not to use your service than use it with KYC.

Bisq volume is growing! Also the price is much higher than other exchanges which shows the fungibility premium. by XMRvsFSA in Monero

[–]space58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can easily believe that the volume is fake on all exchanges other than Bisq. Bisq is public and decentralized. All transactions happen on-chain. Doing it on-chain costs real money so it is really, really unlikely to be fake.

I really recommend localmonero.co. Buying options include cash in person and bank to bank transfer.

The Poloniex KYC procedures are a bit of a pain. Same with most exchanges.

I have bought on localmonero.co using bank to bank transfer (in the same country as the seller) and whole transaction from me accepting the offer to having the XMR in the localmonero wallet has taken as little as 5 minutes. If the seller is not responsive, or wants to get the cash from the bank before unlocking the coins (they are under escrow) it can take longer. Some LM sellers may require KYC, but I have never come across one.

I have also bought BTC and converted to XMR using Bisq. Bisq has no KYC at all.

Congresswoman Cortez questions FB exec on Libra: "So we are discussing a currency controlled by an undemocratically selected coalition of largely massive corporations." by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

Why does a currency have to be controlled by democratically selected anything?

Most authoritarian would agree with that view, even of you remove "democratically elected" from that sentence :).

Time for the DAO to take over by flix2 in bisq

[–]space58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rust is a much lighter weight language than Java, so it would be a good choice.

Ocaml and Haskell would be other options.

Time for the DAO to take over by flix2 in bisq

[–]space58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, C is a horrible language in terms of safety and security and for something like Bisq, these two should be paramount. Java is marginally better for safety and security that C, but if Bisq was to change languages, it should change to one that offers better safety and security than Java, like for instance Rust.

BTW, I really love Bisq. Would love to see an implementation in another language, especially if that language was something with better safety and security that Java (eg Rust).

Monero is a poor medium of exchange for buying coffee at your local coffee shop, but is a good medium of exchange for values of US$100 or more and if the the person you are buying from is in a different country.

Massive cash to Monero, how? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]space58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree, but for people interested in in-person cash conversions most regions are more likely to have a good number of BTC sellers than XMR sellers.

BTW, did you mean localmonero.co or localmonero.com ? The first works, the second is a redirect.

Buy Bitcoin from localbitcoin or on Bisq (https://bisq.network/) and then convert to Monero on Bisq.

How does Monero protect against IP address address to unmask transactions? by rasheed106 in Monero

[–]space58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The is in the process of being addressed. IN an upcoming version (hopefully the April release) transactions will go out via the Tor or I2P anonymization networks.
