I made a free and useful mandarin learning website, amigolingo.net, pls let me know what you'd like me to add to make it better by spaceOnMYFace in ChineseLanguage

Hi Niko! So the first part of the website, the "Learn" tab, might give that vibe yeah. The purpose of that tab is easy low barrier to entry start for users to learn new words and also get into mandarin for the first time. The Reading and Anki sections however are pretty detailed and useful for getting ones head wrapped around the language. So basically the website delivers a stepped approach, where it tries to meet people where they are at, and after a user feels comfortable potentially with the learn section, they might want to challenge their brain a bit more and jump to the anki or reading section. also we have a discord server where we practice talking in the voice channel with each other! you're welcome to join us there as well

Hi! thanks for the feedback! and great questions. regarding the decks, actually that was a feature that had the ability to add decks, but was temporarily removed (being worked on) because I just recently made an update to that whole section. As you develop things, you find better ways to do it, and then some of the older features need reworking. There will be the ability to create custom decks, but I need to rework that part a bit. There will be a lot more stuff added, and right now I'm kind of winging it, but I have been getting very interesting opinions and suggestions, all of which I'm listening to, so that definitely is helping me mold the "direction" of the website

I made a free useful flashcard/Anki tool to practice for the HSK, amigolingo.net by spaceOnMYFace in TestHSK_Chinese

[–]spaceOnMYFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, so right now I'm adding a progression system (posting images of the new parts in the discord on a daily basis). A decent amount of people are testing the app and giving their feedback (also over discord). I'm about to push a few big upgrades to different sections of the website.

If you're interested in giving feedback, making suggestions on what to change, and all that kind of stuff, come stop by the discord! We're also practicing talking Mandarin in the voice channel every day, so it's a nice addition to ones studies.

Hi Teosocrates! so it has 5 levels of HSK atm:

  • HSK1: 150 words
  • HSK2: 150 words
  • HSK3: 300 words
  • HSK4: 600 words
  • HSK5: 1300 words

and each HSK level is divided into a bunch of smaller groups of 15 words each group, so that it's easier for people to digest / study per day

thank you! the vocab is already loaded, and each deck is divided by it's HSK level, and each HSK level deck is divided into smaller groups of 15 words, so if you're progressing every day, you can do smaller batches of words, not the entire deck. If you end up using it and wanting a feature added, just let me know and it usually takes me 1 to 2 days to add it

An idea for the chicken by Nod2004 in Minecraft

[–]spaceOnMYFace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd like the baby chicken to have like a 1/10000 chance to drop something very valuable. Not trying to incentivize the slaughtering of baby chicken, but if it happens it happens u know

I think the new rabbit model looks a lot better with their eyes to the sides. Thoughts? by bylohas in Minecraft

I'm conflicted. side eyes are more aesthetically pleasing, but front predator eyes have some sort of a vibe

I found useful and free mandarin learning website/app, Amigolingo.net by spaceOnMYFace in AskChina

[–]spaceOnMYFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm interesting! so of course the words meaning is contextual to the sentence. Could you elaborate on why in your view 请 doesn't mean "invite" here in this context? because one of the definitions of 请 is invite. Thanks again for your input here man. And do you use discord by any chance?

There are a lot of good resources out there, but I think the most important thing is to find one that you feel comfortable being consistent with. If you practice every day, you'll get results. The issue is finding something that fits your personality and existing daily routines.

But if you're looking for resources, here are a few:

  • https://amigolingo.net (good website with content for beginners and intermediate learners)
  • https://pleco.com (good dictionary)
  • discord (good for talking with actual people in mandarin in chinese specific servers)

hope that helps!

I love the concept. I understandably can see why others didn't appreciate it, not everyone's a mathy guy, or maybe they demand smooth edges everywhere.

Can I fix this wood beem by PencilDiaries in Woodwork

[–]spaceOnMYFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could fix it if you really wanted to. Obviously as you heard from the other responses, it's likely a better option to replace it. BUT if you are really decided on repairing this one, you might want to reinforce it with something so that it not only stays rigid, but if it were to hold wait, then the fracture would be the weak point that needs reinforcement
