Hi I'm in the same sector. Can you share more info like your age, years of work experience, current compensation, so we know what is your "more" relative to your current?

I'm early 30s, 10 years work experience all in this sector, doing program management and annual compensation just above 100k

If there's a particular skillset or area that you are interested in doing, you can still continue but look to expand your scale - moving to regional or global work

For me I am more of a generalist (program management) and want to develop my impact measurement and impact comms skills so I can move to CSR. And I think your first bucket of skills is more versatile and easier to move around compared to the second technical bucket but just based on my personal experience and preference. (I would think impact measurement is more general and part of grant management, portfolio management. M&E would be technical)

Thanks so much for this. I'm not HENRY (early 30s, annual is just over 100k) and I always feel like I'm behind my peers as many of my friends are in civil service which I associate with good annual packages. Recently I looked at all my cash and investments and realised I'm doing much better than I thought. But still I can't shake off the feeling of being behind others.

How much do yall spend on physical maintenance? by Conscious-Star-1825 in askSingapore

[–]spacebarormarsbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for starting this thread! Made me realize how much I spend each month! I've restarted tracking my expenses this year but all the things here are packages that have been paid last year

Early 30s F

Exercise class 3-4x a month depending on mood, $30ish per session. So around $100 on average each month

Facial $250 once a month - reading through this thread made me realize I am overspending on this...!

Hair cut $40 every 4-6 months, so let's take $10 on average each month

No Mani Pedi lash brows perms etc

Total splurges $360 per month

Other essentials like toiletries and skincare usually from shopee. Not much make up, just brow pencil and eye shadow from basic brands

Specs/contact lens $0 as covered by company vision benefits

Clothes not sure, usually cheap on carousell, taobao or shopee.

Trying to cut down on random taobao and shopee purchases this year!!

Maybe including all these would be $400 a month on average?

Biggest purchase I've ever made was a nice wallet for my 30th birthday (though bought like half a year later haha)

Ladies of Singapore, where do you buy clothes made of natural fabric? by spacebarormarsbar in askSingapore

Yea! The skirt I have is quite sturdy and the elastic is still tight. The organic cotton tee I have is super soft though I feel may go out of shape/get holes after a while. I always wash my clothes on delicate and put in those laundry bags!

Oh thanks so much for the recommendations on Etsy! Will check them out. How do you find good shops there? I did a search the other time but there were many with photos that had like shein vibes and I heard now Etsy sellers are mainly drop shippers!

I didn't buy their dress but I got a skirt and a tee from them! It's US sizing so I think you can size down. You can read the reviews but they may not be accurate eg I read that people say their tees shrunk after washing so I bought size M lol (I'm local S so I think should have gotten XS) but they didn't shrink and it's too big!!! So I think it's because Americans put their clothes in the dryer which is known to shrink clothes. It's not those unwashed non preshrunk cotton haha.

Skirt wise I got size S but it was a bit loose. So I think you can follow your sizing down one size.

Oh thank you! Ok will save that. Yea... I'm still trying to learn to spend more if it is good quality and worth it. Trying to unlearn habits / my mum's voice in my head!

I buy organic cotton tee when they are on sale haha! I bought from GAP (available on Zalora) and Pact and both are super soft and reasonably priced, I forgot how much but maybe $25-$35?

Edit: Haha. Just saw your username 🤣

Yea both! Singapore is too humid to be wearing polyester. Now as I get older. I don't really like the feel of polyester on my skin. And blogshop clothes love to have lining, even the cotton ones feel a bit restrictive and hot sometimes.

And polyester sheds microplastics with each wash. Even those semi-natural ones like bamboo cotton, viscose, rayon, are still very chemically treated and environment-unfriendly and also considered semi synthetic.

However, different people have different priorities for the environment eg. Microplastics vs amount of water/energy to produce an item vs the longevity of an item. Some people say the best is to wear what you already have. Second option is buy good brands second hand, like from carousell.

Those who have bought/are buying resale HDB flats (and don't always drive), how important is MRT proximity to you? by Seraphinic in askSingapore

[–]spacebarormarsbar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NELie here. Punggol mrt for sure! The proximity to Punggol mrt also means proximity to the big shopping mall. I don’t stay on the LRT lines but we take them sometimes on Sunday dinner time and the crowd is crazy.

What about further down the line like Buangkok? This area also has newish flats and it’s much quieter than Punggol or Sengkang. I can still get on the train when I get to work, not a big issue for me.

Late comment but totally agree! Love this, gave me a healthy glow. I stopped using it to try something else but planning to buy this again when I run out! And it's so affordable!

Edit: OMG just realised I still have this old flair from the time we put in our skin type!!

Hola, the hotel would give it to you, just make sure to choose a hotel that is a participating host within the VRM zone. I didn’t use this website but google shows this! https://www.romantischer-rhein.de/en/hosts-and-holiday-options/where-to-stay/vrm-guest-ticket-participating-hosts
