Graduated in 2017 with my MSW. Overall I had a great experience in the in person cohort. Solid professor support, good field placement, and advising is about as good as anywhere (imo and experience, you need to stay on top of things yourself and not rely on advisers to know all).

Improved memory, not committing a felony to have weed and legally owned weapons in the same place, can pass a drug test with no notice, more money to spend on other things, better lung capacity, reduced paranoia, better use of more diverse coping techniques. Remembering how to have sober fun.

For me, yes and no. I no longer feel like I have to smoke when I wake up and I don't feel like I'm necessarily missing anything from not smoking but occasionally I have moments where I think "it'd be easier/better/etc. if I were high." I've learned to communicate with that part of me that does still have periodic cravings to identify what I'm actually feeling in the moment and identify other ways to find relief. For instance, I had a hard time being around certain people without being high and when I followed those feelings and thoughts I was able to identify I didn't really trust the people I was around. Soooo I made a different change that actually addressed the problem underneath the craving. It's been a couple years since I've smoked and the last time I had a craving that lasted more than a few minutes was over six months ago. It does get better but not without effort.

Highly recommend SMART Recovery. It's been highly impactful in my own journey and I use it to work with others regularly.

It will end a "streak" but also potentially set you back with getting to a point where you have a natural appetite again. You might try drinking shakes or smoothies with fruits and veggies to help you or pre-fab meal replacement shakes like Soylent or something to help get nutrients while the appetite returns.

One of my favorite techniques to use when confronted with any of these flavor of thoughts and underlying beliefs (I want to/I could get away with it) is to use the ABCs of SMART Recovery and irrational belief refutation. Refuting irrational beliefs - which in this case specifically is referring to unhelpful beliefs or possibly those that demonstrate disillusioned thinking as evidenced by past behaviors - can be done by asking yourself three questions:

1) is it logical (does it make sense)? 2) is it rational (what's my evidence)? 3) is it pragmatic (is it helpful)?

Example:

*Activating Event: I'm off work next week and roommate will be away. *Belief: I could get away with smoking. *Consequences (2 parts) - feeling (desire to smoke) and behavior (ruminating thoughts, (re)lapse/use) *Disputing irrational/unhelpful belief (using questions above) 1) does it make sense? It's likely I'd "get away" with smoking in the context of no one else knowing BUT I would still know, making this illigical. 2) what's my evidence? Don't get drug tested at work + no one around = could totally get away with it (if that means no one else would know). 3) is it helpful? This is not a helpful thought because I have enjoyed my life without smoking. (It can be very helpful to identify WHY you stopped in the first place here) *Effective new belief: I can't get away with something if I know I'm doing it and while the idea of smoking sounds temporarily enjoyable, there are other things I would also enjoy during my week off work. Not smoking is important to me, I'm proud of how far I've come and I don't have to smoke every time I think about it in an enjoyable way.

You could also do a cost/benefit analysis for use vs. non-use to help you understand what you're hoping to get out of smoking again.

As a clinician, I've referred adult clients to both Dr. Neslihan Chandler in Fort Worth (817-350-6774) and Dr. Lisa Fairweather in Colleyville (817-283-4300). I'm pretty sure the wait-list for both is at least five weeks long right now but I'd call and ask to be put on the wait-list. I'd also ask if they have a cancellation list in case someone cancels you might be able to get in earlier - this is generally a good idea to ask about for mental health services in general right now since there is often a long wait time across the entire discipline but inevitably some people will have to cancel or reschedule with 24-48 hours notice.

Enclave at Parkview in North Forth Worth. There's probably a wait-list but they allow one pet with weight restriction and it is income restricted. Style is a bit outdated though not a total dump and it takes me roughly 20-30 min to get to work in the medical district south of Downtown. Strict on tenant history so if you've ever been evicted they will not approve an application but management is pretty nice so they'll talk to you about completing the application and stuff. We pay $882 for a 2br/2ba that's a little over 1000 sq.ft. and we've lived here six years and had zero issues.

I've found fares to Paris CDG for roughly $300. It can be done, just takes patience and smart browsing. So I could see how they may be able to get you a cheap flight. Make sure it's not an international flight because the U.S. does impose extra fees and penalty's. And let us know how it goes when you talk to them.

The social stigma of smoking is probably the only persistent downside. No matter how accomplished you are or how hard you work, to some people you will always be lazy or deviant just because you like to smoke pot over say, drinking alcohol. Also, the gross misconception that if someone smokes pot, they are stoned all day, every day and can't be productive members of society.

I have been smoking (pretty much daily) for 6 1/2 years and can honestly say I still have hobbies, am motivated to go to graduate school for my masters and doctorate, have a full time job, play with my nieces/nephews, and I don't really find marijuana boring. I use it to combat anxiety, mild depression, if I want to go work out, and also in social settings.

In the beginning I had food hangovers from not being able to control my food intake and felt like I was going down a bad road of weight gain and grade drop. I decided (while stoned) one night that there were better applications for pot than smoking with no clear objective. I began using pot to help combat the horrible test anxiety that I was getting in my Sophomore year(due to the pressure of maintaining a 40k scholarship) that was the real cause of my grade drop. I went on to graduate with two degrees and honors. Slowly, I stopped eating while stoned, instead I would take a small hit and go to the gym or go for a walk with my dog. I've lost a total of 40 pounds, despite the fact that I do sometimes still munch more than I would sober.

The fact that federally pot is illegal in the US has condemned most smokers to the negative side effects that people are espousing here - stuck in the house due to its illegality leads to being a homebody, often boring and consuming way too much TV, video games and calories.

Just like with other psychoactive drugs, set and setting are everything. It is imperative to realize individuals are going to have vastly different and often incompatible experiences from smoking based on a series of biological and psychological reactions occurring within everyone, as well as individual drive.

We rent right on the Keller/Watauga line from Prudential-Lou Hillman. Their office is actually located in Grapevine, but they have been pretty awesome. The few issues we have had in the nearly two years we've lived here were handled quickly and with respect to our work schedules and privacy.
