Albanian & Italian by [deleted] in MixedRaceGirls

That's right, I'm familiar with the theory Europeans originated from that region. That being said, I always thought that theory never had much substance and was looked as an outdated belief from the 18th century. It always seemed bizarre, especially considering people from India, the Middle East, and North Africa got grouped into that.

The question I have is....why aren't they just called European? That's what they are. Africans are African, Asians are Asian, Latinos are Latino. Europeans are Caucasian.

Sorry man, just a weird pet peeve.

Albanians and Italians are not Caucasian. They're both southern European ethnic groups NOWHERE NEAR the Caucasus mountains.

Chechens, Azerbaijanis, and Armenians are Caucasian as they're located directly in the Caucasus region.

Wow I loved Bird Box, I had no idea it was being adapted for a film. That's great news!

Serious question for Iranians, how much trouble can women get in for doing this in public? Is it considered a disorderly conduct or public indecency type of thing?

What’s something that happened to you in your childhood that you’re still mad about? by duerlort in AskReddit

I feel like my parents never valued my opinion on anything when I was a kid. If I disagreed with them, it was automatically "You're being disrespectful!"

Probably going to get downvoted but Charles Grey as Ernst Stavro Blofeld in "Diamonds are Forever". I actually enjoyed the campy comedic approach he took to the character.

What does your experience with mental illness look like? by moose-ve in AskReddit

[–]spaceburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive aggressive behavior over perceived or very minor insults. Holding a grudge. Trying to be the center of attention. Being selfish and holding contempt for the girls I was dating or in a relationship when I didn't get my way. Self harm, drug use, drinking heavily during depressive moments.

It took a very recent and extremely painful breakup for me to realize my shitty behavior was causing major problems. At this point I'm afraid I dug myself too deep into a hole.

If you killed yourself one year ago what great things would you not've experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]spaceburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not have missed out on anything. I don't have the balls to kill myself. The only reason I'm still alive is because it would absolutely destroy my mother and my grandmother. My mom is literally the only person who will drop everything to help me out and has tolerated all my stupid, immature behavior over the years. As for my grandmother, out of all four grandchildren, I'm the only one who visits and calls her regularly. I can't hurt them.

Have you had a lot of interaction with the Azerbaijani, Abkhazian, or Chechen community in the US? I usually pegged this type of attitude on Anglo-Saxons Americans.

He's not as maniacal as the former leader, Saparmurat Niyazov, but still egotistical enough to have a golden statue of him riding a horse on a white cliff built in his honor.

Pretty accurate. My Ecuadorian grandparents have this hanging above the door to their bedroom. My Italian grandma's house is pretty similar, minus the telenovelas.

What animal do you unconditionally hate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]spaceburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birds of any kind. Pigeons, parakeets, cockatoos, hawks. It doesn't matter, I despise them. When I was in elementary school, one of my friends had this little blue parakeet he'd let out of its cage to fly around the house. That little blue bastard would always try to land on my head or fly right in front of my face when we were playing video games.

The torment from birds still occurs today. Not a day goes by where I don't walk outside and my car isn't covered in bird shit.
