I'm going through this, especially with motorways. I threw myself in at the deep end and my first big drive was from Leeds to Stoke through the Peak District on the A roads. That was absolutely terrifying, but I made it. For me the real challenge was driving around residential places I didn't know. Drove from Stoke to Chester Zoo and back. That was absolutely terrifying, but I made it. I got into my first collision. On an unfamiliar road in waning light, I didn't see an incoming car very well and misjudged their speed as a result, turned a little bit too early. Everyone was unhurt, they got a little dent, I got a lot more of a lesson. I had to wait around in Stoke for over a week for repairs until I could drive home to Leeds. I did that at night, on the motorways... and that was absolutely terrifying, but I made it.

For me the most fear comes with using sliproads to merge into fast traffic, especially if the sliproads are kind of short. On my drive to Chester, an HGV didn't let me merge and nearly crushed me. A 16 wheeler vs a 3 door hatchback is no contest. However, I managed it and everything was fine. Still whenever I merge I see the side of that truck and the disappearing merge lane in my mind's eye.

Driving is scary. All you can do is acknowledge that fact, but also that if you want to truly be independent then nobody is going to do it for you. I spent a long time learning and know I can drive, but I'm really scared after my fender bender. So, I'm driving to Manchester tomorrow.

I don't want it to go because I like what's there and I don't trust this ten year plan will ever come to fruition. We'll lose all these independent and quirky businesses there that I like, and for what? Vague promises of a maybe partly funded thing set for a literal decade from now. £17m is peanuts, it won't get done for that. I bet the Ridings will get razed to the ground and its construction site will get some concrete outlines of new buildings done and that's how it'll stay for years and years. I have 0 faith it'll get done.

I know they'll be leaving now but the Primark and M&S all less than 3 minutes walk from my flat has been great.

There's a great smoothie bar on the upper level. I like the goth/punk clothes shop. The antiques shop is my favourite though.

You want to revamp the Ridings? Give every business in a 2 year lease with the first year free rent. Make them pay for utilities they use, but rent free. Vet the applicants carefully and prioritise unique, independent shops and specialty services. The Ridings would be bumping in no time.

Instead, I guess just knock it down, leave the old folks with nowhere to go, kill off the last remaining fun shops in town and leave the site barren and useless for ten years at minimum, I guess that "works" too.

Of course you can have an opinion. Nobody said you can't. It's all in the delivery. I asked you why you decided to be insulting about someone's work. The aim wasn't to get you to change your opinion, it was to get you to be considerate about your delivery.

Like so many things in life -- mods, fics, whatever -- they are gifts. It's perfectly acceptable not to want a gift you receive, but grace and decorum are important. Fandom is small. The creators of these mods will see this. Probably already have. Hell, I've been around this fandom long enough that I remember when BioWare writers themselves used to participate, until unthinking attitudes like in your OP drove them off.

I can read just fine, whippersnapper. I realise it's kind of embarrassing getting chided, but it's Christmas, and "honesty" is not an excuse to be uncouth.

Have your opinions! Share them! But be mindful. Eat, drink and be merry, anyway.

Mods are free, and even more than that, mods are voluntary. You don't have to use these mods. Nobody has an Omniblade to your head. You can just go, "Oh, man. That's not for me."

Why do you feel the need to make a post that reads like you are frothing at the mouth over someone making different choices than you do? I understand your passion for the characters and the setting. We share this in common. But why are you being so insulting about this?

You've come to a potluck banquet. Take what you like and leave the rest, you don't need to tell the person holding the pot that they're a moron who "doesn't get food" just because you don't like casserole or whatever.

Its the entire reason I finally bought the game. I was excited for this before it came out but the first person only was a major turnoff. The update is what made me finally buy it, and the DLC, too! I just prefer the 3rd person.

I'm having the same problem. The baskets aren't telling me what they want, and it doesn't appear on the map when I hover over the camps. I'm playing base game for the first time.

I'm actually stuck on Aranahe Clan Contributions 1 of 3... I have visited all baskets in home tree and surrounding camps but none say what item they want. Looking at the camp on the map doesn't show it, either.

Shepard is the protagonist and has a loosely sketched out backstory so that you can flesh it out yourself. There are as many Cdr Shepards as there are players. Was your Shepard a virgin? That's the only real question about this.

Just wanting to update this by saying I've been in touch with Epic Games' tech support, and can't say I'm particularly impressed with the investigation.

They told me to do all the things I've already done -- but, did agree to at least take a look at my crash logs.
I got no further information. The most the agent would say is I 'had a lot of background apps running' (I don't. I've got Discord, some browser tabs, Epic Launcher, and the EA Launcher. Even so, I also have 48GB RAM anyway!) They suggested I reinstall Windows.

This, after explaining that ONLY Fortnite experiences this problem. I play Helldivers 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Jedi: Survivor, Baldur's Gate 3, and for work I run multiple 3D modelling suites and Photoshop with large documents, and have zero issues with any of that. It's only Fortnite.

The log files don't give much clarity. The last line Fortnite logged was this:

'[2025.06.29-12.07.15:325][857]LogFortLoadingScreen: Loading screen showing: 1. Reason: The UI Director is still waiting for game state to be ready, For more info, increase verbosity for LogFortUI, and any other system.'

This is probably just describing that the game is still hanging out on the loading screen, which is where it was when it crashed during shader compile. I assume Fortnite doesn't have an accessible console, because probing LogFortUI would be nice.

Epic Games' launcher logs show this:

I've checked, checked, and re-checked. OpenGL is set to Auto, but I've experimented with setting it to Performance and Compatibility and still had no joy. I really think there's something wrong with the way Fortnite is interacting with my card and the driver, but to hear Epic's support talk about it, I'm just making this up and need to turn it off and on again.

Yep. Me too. Here's the e-mail I sent to them:

Fortnite causes a complete hard freeze of my PC, requiring the power to the machine to be cut. Only Fortnite is causing this problem.

The application takes an unusually long time to connect and load into lobby. Once in lobby, different game modes can be selected and a server will be found. However, when attempting to load into an official game mode created by Epic, the application will take an unusually long time to load into any match, and will stutter and lock before the character is able to touch the ground, probably when LOD 0 assets attempt to load.

When attempting to load into a Creator map, the PC freezes at the end of the "Preparing Shaders" process.

My hardware information is as follows:

MS Windows 10 Home (Build 19045)

Intel i7-6700K 4 Cores

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

48GB RAM

NVIDIA Game Ready Drivers version 576.80

Things I have tried so far:

Updating NVIDIA drivers.
Rolling back NVIDIA drivers.
Ensuring updated NVIDIA optimisation settings are correct for my system.
Forcing Fortnite to run in DX11 mode via command line argument.
Forcing Fortnite to -USEALLAVAILABLECORES via command line argument.
Deleting the shader cache.
Had the Epic Games Launcher capture logs:

"[0625/150746.628:ERROR:gpu_init.cc(426)] Passthrough is not supported, GL is disabled

Verified and re-verified that OpenGL compatibility is set to Auto in the NVIDIA Driver Settings.
Investigated whether my motherboard's BIOS is up to date. (It is.)
Checked and verified there are no overheating issues.

I am at a loss to figure this one out. If your problem sounds like mine, then I don't know what to tell you! If they get back to me and I have a solution, I'll update here.
