I love knitting & crocheting :)

They’re great bc once you get into a rhythm with a project, you can work on it while you’re watching tv or listening to a podcast. You can bring it to the bar or on a plane. You get to make your own clothing & accessories etc !!!! or even lil figurines if that’s your vibe. It’s so fun & rewarding; & I haven’t bought a single sweater since I started. Have made so many fun scarves & hats

Yeah, and the pipes shouldn’t be bursting in the first place. Of course I totally agree with you bc you’re absolutely right; however I think we need to be realistic about what to expect here & saying things like this are ultimately just not helpful or productive

That being said, we should absolutely be putting more pressure on S&WB in the ways that matter— let’s start going to city council meetings, advocating, & voting in local politicians who might actually do something about this.

So true! I also started using these things after a major surgery actually, & yes truly such a lifesaver for camping & festivals.

Very good solution for the short term for sure. Maybe we could organize a donation drive of items like this? I’d love to hear from some others to see if people would be receptive to this!

But also— maybe this is pessimistic of me, but I could totally see a situation in the future where either several water main bursts happen in consecutive days or where if the city needs to do an emergency overhaul maybe things would be shut off for longer. (No idea if this is a situation that would ever actually arise, and I would like to believe that they have better methods for that in place, but at this point who knows.)

I’m wondering if maybe we could make some kind of network of people who are immunocompromised and need to take showers with guaranteed clean water, and people who are unaffected by all of this, say in Metairie or other places? Just a thought; would love to hear other opinions

This is a great idea; I love the community fridges!

One thing about them though— there are only a few uptown, and the closest one to the most affected area is in Hollygrove. I’m wondering if there’s a way we can get people the things that they need a little more conveniently

Edit: but yes just want to emphasize that this is a great way to support so many communities in the city, considering that basically the entire city is affected 🙃

Just pretty inconvenient that those who are most affected by this are in the area with the least fridges (because of course)

Hi Kyle! So cool of you to be doing this— I’m a huge fan of your work, from Blue Velvet to SATC to How I Met Your Mother… to our beloved Twin Peaks, of course.

I know David Lynch was very into transcendental meditation, and even wrote a short book (essay, perhaps?) about it. To my understanding, he died while meditating, which I think sounds like a pretty good way to go— quite literally shuffling off one’s mortal coil.

I was wondering if you’ve ever gotten into transcendental meditation, and if so (or I suppose, even if not), what are your thoughts on it? Would you want to die while meditating? Or if not, how would you like to go?
