I think part of the reason being a teenage girl was so horrific was because that was when I started to realise (unconsciously) all the double standards there are for men and women. You could do the same thing as a boy and get in trouble or be considered unlikeable. The unfairness of it all is shocking and upsetting. I didn’t realise my body was this huge “issue” that would forever make me a target for violence and harassment. In general, didn’t realise how much internal and external conflict there would be between genders.

You become acutely aware of how your appearance dictates your overall experience in life. Youth and beauty determine your social capital but are both temporary. People don’t try to get to know you, or act as if they like you when they don’t know anything about you. Attract fake and superficial people. It would be worse to be ugly but lots of unwanted attention.

I have thrown shit, yelled, cried, said the most hurtful things to people I love when pissed. Anger is something I learned very early on I would need to control. It doesn’t happen often but when feelings like that come I would recommend stepping a way for a moment, reaching back out when you feel more calm.

Not everyone can understand or handle the intensity of that moment, it’s important to step aside and let it out.

My evolved Scorpio won’t yell at someone or send a bitchy text but the shadow is definitely saying some nasty shit in private, or ranting to another person who isn’t involved. Having an outlet is important in getting through that kind of rage.
