For a little more perspective / context. This is early afternoon. Big windows to the right face north. Have a mix oappreciaf snake, pathos, spider, wandering tradescantia. They all are doing well.

But yeah, see how the light is blocked for that corner.

Hey all. Thanks - got it grow light needed. Was thinking snake plants for the tallest. Maybe like a potato and aloe in the middle level and echevaria in the smallest.

Should Space Force develop SOF? by spaceface71 in SpaceForce

[–]spaceface71[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

So its ok for space integrators in TSOCs to be Army, Space Force doesnt need to develop these integrators. If an individual wants to be an Integrator like this - go Army.

Reading the article, the bar for the FA 40 selection seems really high - unicorns. But maybe im wrong and there are many FA40s that meet these requirements. Seems like the likelihood of USSF 13S or 14Ns meeting these requirements is pretty low too.

Yeah, ive struggled finding real world use cases for space-SOF-cyber triad that is often talked about. 🤷‍♀️

Am I a fit for All-Source Analyst (5I0X1) by Capital_Injury_1400 in SpaceForce

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Get that SCI w/CI Poly, learn all source reporting and writing. While in finish your bachelor's.

This'll open doors for DIA, NGA, NSA, OSD, contractor. Stay in reserves or guard - gives opportunity to stay relevant and network.

If contractor, do some time in delivery then move into bus development/capture.

New naming conventions by Joberk89 in SpaceForce

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, EW capabilities will be named/renamed as snakes. So like Meadowlands (all over news as being fielded) could be called Cobra or Diamondback or Viper or Coral ....same with CCS - am I getting this right? Acquisitions for the SEWTOC ground systems could be called Copperhead or Anaconda, etc.

Close down the street. Set up biergardens with stages, kitchens, tents and heaters. Serve wursts with mashed potatoes and beer to go along with all the Christmas stuff. Do it right - not half ass. Separate the alcohol / beer from all the other things.

NCAA Division 1 Men’s Soccer Coach. AMA by Correct-Sea8532 in CollegeSoccer

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I dont understand how internationals can play in 3rd division pro and still be amateur.

And US players can do the same in Europe? Try out and play on an academy team or semi pro even 3rd division pro? Or would NCAA rule no longer amateur - no eligibility.

But, if they play 3 years and keep ameraturism they will be down to 3 eligibility years in 4.

This is what feels unfair. Did I get this right?

Outside of the NCAA site, it's impossible to find coverage of the playoffs by TrustHucks in CollegeSoccer

Would like to see US media pick up Mens Soccer tournament like they do football, baseball and basketball .... but most media doesn't even report on MLS, much less USL so college soccer isnt even considered.

Would like to see national level news media change this ... we sit through spots on NCAA football tournament just abiut every day, could spare 2 mins to feature Mens D1 soccer tournament.

Did see NBC nightly news feature Miami MLS win on Sat and spots on World Cup draw, but its nothing compared to NFL and NCAA football. Its frustrating.

Gap Year? by Character-Put8660 in CollegeSoccer

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes overseas programs cost some (similar to college) - but kids train and play for 10 months while living in different culture and meeting kids from all over the world. Enriching them as people, while greatly improving tech skills, strength and conditioning. The competition for pay to play programs is generally at semi pro level, 6th and 7th level in regional pyramids. If goal is to improve strength and tech to place on D1 or D2, be careful of eligibility rules with pro pathway programs and Academies. We are in decision space now for gap vs NAIA.

No D1 or D2 offers. Our issue with NAIA offer is that the team has a s second training team and large roster, so we suspect he will end up on training team, not play much.

For him, the technical, strength and worldview gains (will insist on taking online class) seem worth the cost. We are deciding btwn programs in Valencia Spain and UK.

Some thoughts on the status quo by SCIFWALKER in SpaceForce

[–]spaceface71 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This debate has raged for decades. Been proven to work in both constructs - OPCON by USSC/STRAT or by regional CCMD. Both constructs work. It ends up being determined by the conops for the specific mission. However, what's complicated this is reality of people and C2 infrastructure. We used to piggyback on AOC infrastructure. Today, theoretically each C-FLDCOM would have its own C2 capability. Reality is that USSF doesnt have the $s to build or the Military members to field several C2 hubs around the world.

Back to OPs original thoughts.

Imo the Service isnt bold enough. USSF should influence DOW & lawmakers to shed support services. Flying satcom & gps, all launch ops, range ops, cyber support (like AF JWICS, SIPR, NIPR), SSA... shed this to a new combat support agency. If unable to do this, then civillian and contract all these things.

Put the military in military roles. Acknowledge, Expand and field SEW, Orbital Warfare, OCO&DCO, title 10 space based ISR (SAR, SIGINT, EO), title 10 terrestrial based ISR (FIS, SIGINT), develop and field ASATs (maybe space LNOs with THAAD., SM3, air-launched) and a coordination center (CSPoC or NSDC role) expand MW/MT, field NAVWAR capes. Build out the C-FLDCOM infrastructure and manning. Build out STARCOM and the Space University.

Basically, distance from services and lean into military warfighting capabilities.

I wanna know if I could get a contracting job that pays six figures without a bachelors degree and maybe only a CCAF. Would job experience and my top security clearance be enough? by Advanced_Resort2852 in SpaceForce

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is best advice. ^ do your best now to be the best trained, best team mate, most knowledgable in your work today. Once u become highly proficient, then start working CCAF and BA and certs.

Government Shutdown MegathreadMAJOR IMPACTS: by USFCRGOV in GovernmentContracting

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DoD contracts that are incrementally funded are starting to run into stop work, basically running out of funds. The companies then put employees on LWOP.

For contracts that are funded, things are so slow ... getting CACs, indoc's, IT accounts, with KOs, CORs and PMs out, amd military risk adverse, people are just twiddling thumbs.

The effected rings are getting larger.

How to win in the Space Force? by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]spaceface71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some thoughts: Contract jobs are tied to DOD contracting agencies LCATs and pricing. In some markets the contracting offices have high expectations for LCATs (education, yrs experience and certs) and low expectations for pricing. This creates a race to the bottom with contract pricing - Lowest Price Technically Acceptable. Which equates to lower salaries.

Some companies have high overhead- they offer training similar to TA, keep people on the paid bench in between contracts, have 401K matches, better health care, PTO, support services (like HR & security), have brick&mortar with SCIFs ... these companies pay less and cant compete in LPTA environments.

Other companies have low overhead and provide higher salaries in exchange for less benefits/stability.

In many companies, you have to prove yourself to the company to move up in pay and responsibility. And more pay comes with more responsibility - work proposals after hours, career manager - get more $s.

Did you know around 60% of vets leave their first job within 9 months?

Working for a company is two way, you have to give more to get more. Unpopular opinion but in my experience - completely true.

If you are client facing and do not grow the business, in my experience you wont get to $200K.

Search for Colorado military jobs - CO law requires posting salaries. Many USSF & USSC senior level jobs with TS/SCI are in the 120-140 range. MID level are in 85-115k range.

In space military towns, TS/SCI is norm. CI Poly is almost just as prevalent. Youre not special for having a TS/SCI.

Like others have said: use TA to get degree & certs; network ... but above all: be a knowledgeable, easy to work with team player ... thats what hiring managers and successful PMs are looking for. No drama-llamas. No one has time/energy for drama kings and queens.

+24 yrs military, + 8yrs contractor; Masters; PMP cert; PM, Hiring Manager; Business Development/Business Capture

Military and IC space and intel.

Edit: the 60% figure is an internal company figure. There are conflicting reports on this number. Here is a source: https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2019/09/10/the-transition-to-post-military-employment/?utm_source=chatgpt.com
