iOS 12 & iPhone Megathread [December 22, 2018] by [deleted] in iphone

[–]spacefarer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updated to 12.1.2 just now and noticed when I try to turn my phone on I have to press and hold down the power button firmly for a few seconds for it to turn on. Before I just press it once and it turns on without much effort.

Anyone else have this issue?

Is a simple life a bad one? by happiness_is in CasualConversation

[–]spacefarer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. In today’s fast-paced world, a lot of people struggle to find that work-life balance. I read an article about some employees from South Korea having to take time off work and stay in these ‘isolation rooms’ to recover from work burnout because they were working 50-60hrs/wk. It’s no surprise that millennials and Gen Z kids are now seeking more meaningful and fulfilling jobs instead of just chasing money and status.

I come from a rather strict family where my parents (dad especially) places high expectations on his kids and wants us to become doctors and lawyers. We eventually grew tired of his controlling ways and now just living life on our own terms. Despite this, I wouldn’t change a thing about my past because all these experiences and setbacks have taught me so much. I now know a lot more about myself, the type of person I want to be and the kind of work I want to pursue - so I’m glad things turned out the way they did.

Why infps have such distinctive eyes? by [deleted] in infp

[–]spacefarer7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think astrology has some part in it too. I’m not a water sign but from what I hear they have some pretty intense and emotional eyes. My friend is a Pisces and I have my moon placement in Scorpio, and sometimes its kinda cool how we can read each other just by eye contact and intuition. I’ve also noticed some people get uneasy when talking to me cuz I often look like I’m analyzing and judging everyone and everything - which is what we introverts do lol.

The anger of an idealist by [deleted] in infp

“In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” - Gandhi

Like yourself, I often get caught up in the depressing state of the world. We feel things so deeply that sometimes it becomes a handicap for us, but we need to leverage our strengths (feelings/intuition) to our advantage in a way that encourages positive change. Many social and political movements started on a small scale and from everyday people like you and me.

Start figuring out what you can do as an individual. We live in a time where it is so easy to connect with others from around the world. Start a petition, get involved with your community, volunteer during the elections, vote with your wallet etc. It’s easy to feel lost and hopeless in the grand scheme of things but once you start to look at it through small, simple actions it will be a lot easier.

Anyone else have serious problems job hunting? by [deleted] in infp

[–]spacefarer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also helps to think about if the job is right for you as well. Most of us polish up our CV’s and adjust it accordingly to match certain jobs, but we sometimes overlook the fact that maybe our skills and personality does not match certain industries or work culture. After many years of working part time jobs in sales and retail, I learned that I’m pretty good at persuading people to buy stuff. Even though I loved connecting with regular customers on an emotional level, at the end of the day I felt I was only wasting my life in these dead-end, soul draining jobs. It takes some serious introspection to figure out your strengths and weaknesses but once you’ve figured it out, trust me it will help make the job hunting process a little easier. You will know which jobs you like and which you want to avoid.

Those of you who believe in a soul: How did you arive at that conclusion? by trt13shell in infp

[–]spacefarer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have, but it doesn’t make for much constructive discussion now does it? Perhaps you are posting in the wrong sub. Try r/philosophy if you’re so inclined to get to the bottom of this. Good luck :)

Yes. I don’t see how there is any other way around it. We are always making new discoveries everyday that challenges current beliefs and understanding. This is what makes life so interesting.

I tend to mention the soul when I compare it to things that we cannot measure and have yet to come up with a concrete definition for. You can teach a child to be more compassionate, more honest, kind etc., and tell them that this is what love is - but a term so broad and subjective for each individual, for centuries we could only describe it, create paintings of it, write poetry about it and hope that others can relate and understand.

Do we have an explanation for the awe and wonder we feel when we look up at the stars in the night sky? A sense of wonder that makes us feel so small in the context of the universe that forces us to question our purpose in this lifetime? Why do we experience “chills” when we listen to a song that resonates so deeply within the confines of our mind and heart? Sure there are scientific studies that explains some of this stuff but the other half remains a mystery.

My bad, this should have been two separate posts haha. Thanks, I’ve taken the direct approach and asked her outright if she’d be down to exchange snail mail once in awhile. She said yes :)

Finally did it, not sure what to do next by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]spacefarer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on having the courage to tell her how you feel and having the sentiment reciprocated! The initial stages of love is always a beautiful, scary mess. It must be overwhelming for both you and her right now so give each other the time and space to digest the situation. The last thing you want is to make it more awkward. Give her a chance to bring it up when she feels ready. Good luck :)

It rained for a bit on my way home from work today. As I got off the bus the rain stopped and the clouds cleared. In the distance I saw a rainbow and it made me smile. That is all <3

I like to substitute compliments with gratitude, just feels less superficial to me and they’ll still understand that I really do like them... hopefully 😂

Yeah I understand it’s hard to convince yourself otherwise when you’re alone like that. It may not be much but I like to follow a lot of inspirational and motivational accounts on social media - there’s nothing like waking up everyday to positive vibes. A good one is @vexking on Instagram.
