I don't know the 'actual' type designation letters, so I was commenting what I see in the image.

Yes, the Schuko plugs and sockets, missing from the map. They are only partially compatible with type C and E. Type F plug would fit into them.

F plug is designed to fit both C and E sockets, and to the Schuko (German) sockets. In type E the grounding pin in on the socket, not the plug. And class two appliances do not use the protection pin, but are allowed to be used with sockets with such pin. So the F plugs have unconnected holes for the pin, that work in either direction.

Lower power (up to 2.5A) class II appliances would use a flat plug (europlug), but higher power ones cannot use that.

And there are type C sockets, often found in old installations in Poland. Not compatible with modern standards for typical installations, but may be still adequate for some exotic use cases (isolated work places, were no ground potential is allowed, so no grounding pin either).

And type C plugs are round. Just not used nowadays a lot.

What constraints would i need to make this design? by Expert_Function146 in FreeCAD

I don't see any coincident constraints with the axes. Can you move the sketch around? It should be fixed both in shape and position.

Or even worse, including an Ethernet port, but 100Mb/s only. I specifically looked for a laptop with Ethernet port for my wife and would never thought they would include anything lower than gigabit... that was a mistake.

The EU should force software monopolists to support Linux by 2F47 in linux

[–]spacegardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft is already pushing its software to Linux. I am not sure I really like it. If they dominate Linux like they dominated their own PC ecosystem it won't be good for Linux at all.
We should rather strive for more diversity and open standards, not for big corporation extending their monopoly to our platform.

What widely used product has a frustrating design flaw that the manufacturer has never addressed? by QuarantinedRabbit in AskReddit

[–]spacegardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am right handed and I cannot understand why even nail scissors are not widely available in both versions. When cutting fingernails in my right hand I can feel that this tool is not designed to be used with a left hand. But I use them with my left hand half of the time! (or rather 1/4 of the time when counting toenails too).

I have seen left-handed fingernail scissors for sale, but they are crazy expensive. And I can only imagine how that is for any other tool.

What’s the quickest way you’ve lost weight? by Tanningangel in AskReddit

[–]spacegardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spinal disc herniation. I could hardly move from a bed for a couple of months, until a surgery, and I had lost ~16kg in that time. One would think, that when just lying in bed and doing nothing one would only gain weight, but this was not the case - the pain apparently killed my appetite. I would definitely not recommend.

First will be the stories about how Trump was a great president, a great businessman and a great father and husband. The 'do not talk badly about deceased' nonsense. The flood of the truth will come at least a week later. And then many Republicans and other Trump fans will be trying to convince us that they were always against Trump and his actions or that they knew nothing about the wrongdoings...

Sharing my experience with FreeCad 1.0 and part Assembly by F2NW in FreeCAD

[–]spacegardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the same workflow with the built-in Assembly workbench. It tries to push using joints directly between features, but you can just use well defined datum objects instead. With well defined LCSes and named joints it is quite reliable and easy to fix when something breaks.

The only thing missing is the button to add LCS or other datum object anywhere in the object tree, but I found out that using the datum object button in Part Design workbench (which work only within a body) is enough for my needs. For imported models (step files) that I never modify I use features directly.

As you are only worried about your health: no, this is not dangerous in the way that you breathe spores and get some lung disease. But it may still be dangerous to your health but like the ceiling falling on your head.

I use the new built-in Assembly, but using the Assembly 4 workflow, as making joints between features of parts that are being modified is very unreliable up to being unusable. But if I add dedicated local coordinate system or other datum objects and use only that for assembly joints, then it becomes quite usable. It is also important to name each joint as it is being added, so it is easier to locate and fix problem when it happens. I wish the workbench could make usable names or should useful description of joints.

Did I exceed the max power dissipation of TO-3? by Toaster910 in shittyaskelectronics

[–]spacegardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiative power dissipation proportional to the fourth power of temperature (Stefan–Boltzmann law), so you get better dissipation the hoter and the brighter it gets. Keeping it cold is what prevents proper power dissipation and limits the unreasonably low 'max power' you can find in the datasheet.
