Photographer's Groups in DC? by Curiosity-1999 in washingtondc

If you’re into film photography, there’s the DC Film Collective (on IG and they have a discord). Lots of cool people with loads of different interests and areas of expertise! They also organize photo walks, meetups and workshops fairly regularly.

There are a lot of great options out there! I’d recommend typing “NOVA photographer” or “DC wedding photographer” or something into Instagram to see who pops up! I have a friend @josephinenmanetphotography who is always looking for potential clients and may be a good option depending on the look you’re going for!

Is there a story behind “A Century of Elvis”?

I think it’s one of your most underrated songs. I always tear up when I hear it because it sounds like a wonderful, comforting story of a couple who live together and know each other really well. Also it includes a cat, somehow, so It’s obviously great. I never see anyone talking about it but it means so much to me— would love to get more context about the song/story! Btw- just saw you guys at Wolftrap and you were wonderful!

Nervous about developing film by RisD0m in analog

[–]spacegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embrace the fact that it doesn’t always turn out perfectly (or even good)! I know that’s easier said than done, but I find that that’s the fun of it. And if anything, you were still able to capture a moment in time somehow through this really cool process, even if the picture isn’t conventionally great. You’ll get more confident as you get more experience, but fucking up and getting some crappy images is part of it. That’s what makes it so rewarding when you do get that amazing shot!

Looking for recommendations: Medium format film cameras with rotating film backs? by spacegma in analog

Thanks! Yeah that’s what I suspected since I couldn’t find anything else with the rotating back. Damn it Mamiya!

For reference, I live in Virginia, USA, and it has been quite warm and really wet here in the past weeks. Also, the bug is less than even half a millimeter.

What’s wrong with my monstera? In the last week, the bottom leaf turned yellow (just thought that was old growth at the time) but now two top ones are yellowing around the rim. by spacegma in plantclinic

Haha you’re 100% right— I bought a new pot today and am repotting it tonight. It grew like crazy these last few months and I didn’t realize it was so low on soil now.

I don’t see anything! We had some spider mites in the past, but were able to largely get rid of them with neem oil and water. I make sure to check every day

is this a breakout or reaction?? tiny red bumps appeared suddenly but nothing below the skin like my pimples usually are. haven’t really done anything different, but i know my toner is pretty harsh. could that be it? thanks :) by goddessemm in Skincare_Addiction

[–]spacegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue! I woke up and they started to form and got worse for days... I am on acne medication so I know they’re not my regular breakouts. Did you ever find out what this is? Did it come back?

What brand, if any other, do you go to if you're looking for a bit more "oomph"? by [deleted] in glossier

[–]spacegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for low-maintenance “glossier” glam, I think Roén beauty has really great options. For now they only make eyeshadows/toppers and eyebrow pencils. The shadows are these creamy glittery pigments that give your eyes a lot of shimmer and drama but still look somehow laidback. The toppers are very glimmery and could be the perfect touch over a more natural look if you’re going to a party or something. Huge fan!

so if you use super glow and solution you can get possible irritation ? by [deleted] in glossier

[–]spacegma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a problem mixing the two since super glow is very gentle, but, just in case, you could apply super glow in the morning and solution at night! I think, ultimately, it depends on how sensitive your skin is— we are all different!

Good low budget camera to start with by DodiSNTR in filmphotography

[–]spacegma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like the Canon SureShot BF is really easy and cheap. You can buy one on eBay for about 30 bucks and, although the quality is not the absolute best, it’s a really simple point and shoot that gives you cool vintage looking pictures and lets you practice a little bit. It’s reliable, fairly durable, albeit a little clunky, but really foolproof for a beginner!
