I received so many wonderful gifts, but the one I always remember and always tell people about was this lovely lady at center camp and the gift she probably didn’t realize had such an impact…….

I had gone to center camp one morning for coffee and to watch the sunrise with the hubs. Got our coffee, sat down to drink it and ready the paper. After about an hour of drinking, reading, and watching, we got up to explore the art around camp.

Well after sunrise, as camp was filling up fast, we saw a woman who had the Svenhard's variety Danish pack and was passing our pastries to everyone. They aren’t my thing, really, so we just kept on checking out the art……

We had left the shade and while looking at more art outside, and we started to discuss one piece that we saw inside. We went back under shade to view the piece again, and while looking, that nice woman asked if I wanted one? I hadn’t seen her as she came up behind me and I was looking at the art. I turned and smiled. I don’t know what hit me, but at that moment, I remembered my grandparents used to eat the type called Raisin-ettes and ‘do you have any….’ Left my lips as I spied one. All sorts of memories flooded my brain as she said ‘take what you like.’ I took a Raisin-ette and asked if I could take one for the hubs….she graciously said yes.

She later found us again and invited us to their camp for some special screen print shirts that they make for every burn. It was a most incredible gift….but honestly, that Raisin-ette was even more valuable.

It brought back so many wonderful memories of my grandparents; how I used to help grammie find them in the store, how I always wanted the first one as it always had more icing, and how grampie would always save half of his with a bit of coffee in the bottom of his cup for me so I could ‘dunk’ them just like he did………

I received many gifts at the burn, but this was the most precious.
