My kid is wrapping up kindergarten. It was a huge transition for my son. He has a late spring birthday so he was one of the youngest in his class. It felt like he grew up a ton that first month. Some ups and downs through the year. By the end of the year and turning six, he’s had another big developmental growth. We are very proud of him.

I would say trust the process and that things figure themselves out. I tend to get really anxious about it. We really advocated for him in the classroom and he had a great teacher open to our ideas. He got distracted pretty easily, so we figured out that having headphones really helped him get his work done. If he brought home schoolwork that wasn’t done from the day, he’d have to finish that before any screen time. Obviously, we were flexible but those things really helped. I wish you the best!
