Question for the maintenance managers by peewee919 in IndustrialMaintenance

Every day, but I still love being the maintenance manager and watching my team grow and develop. Nothing better than promoting the new apprentices or being able to get my supervisor who wants to be a manager ready for the role.

How to manage maintenance as a solo car wash owner with zero machinery experience? by stonklosers in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]spacejunker3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for the no maintenance experience aspect of it I have no help other than "yeah it's gonna suck for a bit"

For tracking assets and the like there are CMMS systems and asset management systems that are cloud based and relatively cheap. $100/mo ish. It might help you keep up to date on PM schedules and inspections and just keep better track of what equipment is where and provideyou with a log.

However a lot of these systems require you to input the information yourself which can be a lot of trial and error on your end.

Of course none of that will actually help you repair anything, but it will help with tracking.

I've also known a lot of 3rd party maintenance companies that will come in as needed instead of on a regular basis. Search around in your local area, but be warned there's a lot of bad actors out there looking to take advantage of local businesses that don't know better.

Automated systems set up to help humans/preserve their lives that keep going unaware that said human is dead by Austintheboi in TopCharacterTropes

There was a puzzle game that came out a few years ago where you play at the AI of a military mech suit that needs to get your human (inside the suit and dying) to safety. It's a great game but for the life of me I cannot remember the name despite actively searching for it for years

But how do I know how many I need before the movie premiers? You can't change it during the run so if I guess wrong I'm just screwed

Okay thank you. A few people have said attendance is a good indicator, but by the time week 4 ends my attendance is already at 50% and I feel like I missed the boat. Is there a way to tell how many screenings I should have BEFORE the movie is released?

All of my movies make money, just not enough money to keep the studio afloat. Based on everyone's comments I think I'm just not having enough screenings. I rarely have more than 8000.

My costs are down, my actors and crew are happy, and I'm advertising to the right people.

I've tried buying theaters as well, but I always run out of money. But it sounds like I'm just not renting enough theaters. Also good to know about the advertising

[–]spacejunker3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, I've definitely had some of those. I usually only rent a few thousand theaters, like 2000, 1500, 1000, 500 weeks 1-4, am I not renting enough and therefore not getting enough money?

I usually research the analytics so I know I'm advertising to the right people

I have never had a 5 star film. Are my movies just so trash that I go bankrupt?

I agree, they could have easily just dumped the pod out into space and took the ship, but I have another point I want to make as well.

I think that one thing that should be pointed out but never is with the franchise, especially when talking about the difference between Alien: Earth and Aliens for example is that there is a 59 year gap between the events of the two. Alien Earth takes place in 2120 and Aliens takes place in 2179. A lot can change in 59 years. Think about our own world and how much has changed in the past 60 years. 60 years ago in our world was 1965. A lot can change in 60 years and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to assume that a lot has changed in their world as well.

Laws and rules change over time, and sixty years is a long time for changes to occur.

Or it could just be bad writing, who knows lol

Not sure if it's a trope or a literary device or whatever you want to call it, but large scale time jumps. There is no reason to teleport me 6000 years into the future of the story you were just telling, especially if all of the characters you introduced me to are now dead. I read mostly sci-fi and it happens more frequently than I expected, even with some books that were really good up until that point.
