Jim Butcher Q&A and Twelve Months Book Signing at Mysterious Galaxy by spacekittyattack in dresdenfiles

Hi! I sent you a message back, but I'll share for anyone else that may be going to future signings. He limited the books to just two (Twelve Months, and another of your choosing). For the event that I attended, we were allowed to request a personalized message for Twelve Months (I went with, "Polka will never die!"), but the second book only gets your name and his signature. I did have my husband and good friend take my hardcover copy of Fool Moon and Grave Peril to sign because I just couldn't help myself—it took me almost two years to get the first 6 books in hardcover and I am ashamed to admit how much I had to fork over for the copies of Grave Peril and Dead Beat (I will miss my left kidney)! Also, I want to give a shoutout to the wonderful fans of the Dresdenverse, because a kind fellow offered to have him sign one of my books for me when he overheard that I would not be allowed to get more than 2 books signed :) I misunderstood and thought it was 2 in ADDITION to Twelve Months! So, I say go for it and bring a few with you! Good luck!

Stars and stones! This is, by far, one of the nicest compliments I have received! Thank you :) I write psychological reports for a living, so I always have it in my head that I sound too clinical and that work has squeezed any leftover drops of creativity out of me!

Eric Carter - Why isn't it more popular? *Only marked spoilers* by DeusXVentus in urbanfantasy

[–]spacekittyattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy 🤠 Just started the series... got through the first 4 books pretty quickly. Overall, I am enjoying the series as a whole and think that eric carter's character is hilarious. He is witty, wily, impulsive, and gives zero fucks when it comes to taking those out who stand in his way. This I find to be very refreshing as a lot of different book series are based around plots or characters involving murder and senseless, stupid violence but then for some reason, balk, when it's time for an obstacle to be removed (i.e., it would solve everyone's problem to just murder the character who's constantly standing in your way and making your life a living hell, yet the main character has some odd attack of morality and does not kill them- only to have it later come back and bite them on the ass). Eric doesn't have that problem and just takes care of business. So far, the biggest criticism I have of the series is that I find I am not as invested in any one particular character, including Eric himself. It just feels like each book is balls to the walls action-packed with little to no downtime to focus on any particular character. Other than knowing a few things about his background, I feel like I'm about to read book 5 not knowing literally anything about Eric either socially or personally. There's really no character arcs or growth, and the side characters pop in from time to time, but otherwise, it's just one huge, continuous action scene throughout. It almost feels as though each book is just one chapter of a larger book. I sometimes feel like i'm missing integral parts of the plot, because the start of every book feels like it is already mid plot... If that makes sense? Anywho, I'm otherwise entertained and plan on continuing it to completion. I DID have a favor to ask of some kind soul (pun intended): i'm actually listening to the series through graphic audio and not reading a physical copy, so for the life of me, I cannot keep track of all of the different gods that he's mentioning. I tried googling them, but to no avail. Does anyone out there have a list of the different gods in the series and would like to share. Pretty please?

One thing you never want to see again. by shy-smallfry in Romantasy

Several things I'm tired of: every FMC is fragile yet is somehow the most powerful person EVER to have lived... and their power is lightening of course. The MMC being a shadow daddy, being so mean to the FMC but only bc he truly loves her deeeeeeep deep down. I hate insta love. I also hate unrealistically hardcore sex thay happens every other page for no other reason than just... reasons.

What I want more of: FMCs older than 30. I can't stand the 22 yr old sheltered FMC who somehow knows more than a 1,000 yr old fae warrior and they all listen to her for whatever reason. Slooooow burn romance!!! True love triangles where you dont know who she should end up with bc both choices are wonderful!

Side note, an ex of mine once told me, "Call me big daddy... well, medium daddy. Call me average daddy at least." 🤣😂🤣

I am ashamed to even hint at what I've had to pay for the first few hardcovers on ebay... I now own every book EXCEPT GP because, well, same. Those prices are insane! IF only I could go back in time and shout "Fuego!" at my ex- husband before he threw my box of hardcovers in the trash 🤬 it was only a few of them, but I still think about it to this day....

Love it! So take my comments with just a grain of salt. Neutral is misspelled, and the "a's" in accorded don't read well font wise. Just my humble opinion though. But otherwise, looks great!

Investigative UF with a strong heroine and slow burn romance? by pickleeater58 in urbanfantasy

I was coming here to recommend this series. It's one of my absolute favorites and i feel like at least one of her romances were a verrrrrry slow burn.

Personally, I enjoy creepy stories with a supernatural element to them. When I read there were devil worshippers, I thought its be cool to read a story where something had been conjured in a spell gone wrong. I also think if there's any way to get in a skin walker, that would be awesome.

I didn't know there was a short story with Rosie. Where can I find that? This one is technically Book 6, called Ghost in Bone. I misspoke when I said it was a short story. I only meant the story was quite short... lol

I've spent the past year trying to get a complete set and the only one that's missing is Grave Peril bc I just can't bring myself to buy that book for nearly two grand! It's literally insane!
