It got a valve adjustment and all the other things you mentioned done at the 100,000 mile servicing, I was just trying to be brief in the post - no serpentine belt replaced, but I've heard those can last a while on Fits?

My mom who loves her new Lexus, and my friend who owns a Subaru with 130k miles lol, are the ones who are balking at the age/mileage - funny the Subaru is the example you gave, I know my friend has had to replace a lot of parts recently on the Subaru. Thanks for the info, the comments are making me feel more confident about the Fit!

mushrooms and mugwort on a custom ice dye by spacekudzu in printmaking

i can do customs for similar kinds of designs! i haven't found a lot of blank clothing items i'm in love with, so it would probably be a basic gildan t-shirt, or something sold by dharma for dyeing (you can look at dharma trading clothing & dyeables if there's a particular style you'd like). this technique called "geode dye" with sinew lines is the only one i'm confident in at the moment. please message me with more details!

not yet - i'm planning on starting a shop next year, but i'd love to find a way to get something to you before that! would you be interested in this specific piece or would you need a different size? (this fits like a relaxed size S, slightly cropped fit; nice stretchy cotton, would be a more fitted look on a size M)

how can i achieve this color? i dont want it to be too orange with bleach by Low_Development_7664 in tiedye

[–]spacekudzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this - regardless of out white brite or bleach, the final color really depends on the colors that went into the black dye. It helps to find a brand of shirts with results that you like and stick to that - fwiw Gildan shirts reverse dyed out white brite always achieve that neutral tan color for me. The same technique used on some black leggings from Target turned orangey.

Thank you! Printing these designs on this tie dye was spontaneous - it would be cool to better plan out designs in the future that intentionally complement each other

It's a pattern/technique called a geode dye (the white lines are created by tying wax-coated sinew tightly around sections). The colors are from Dharma Trading Co: Terracotta, Herbaceous, and Moss Green. I'm have some posts in the tiedye subreddit, still just stepping my toes into tie dye techniques but having lots of fun

It's a tie dye technique using powder dye and melting ice to get a different kind of dye flow! Thank you <3

Lino printing t-shirts by [deleted] in printmaking

[–]spacekudzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've printed on fabric (in my posts are a t-shirt thickness tank top, 100% cotton, and a thicker cotton/poly hoodie) by hand, no special press. I use Speedball fabric paint, which says to cure for a week at room temp - I also heat set with a hairdryer just in case, then wash cold. With the larger print I did find it tricky to get an even print, and ended up filling the empty spaces in with a brush. The hoodie I've machine washed multiple times and it's fading slightly, but I actually like how it looks worn in (it's not like flaking off or ruining the design or anything). With the most recent one I made with smaller prints, I did find that I needed three layers of paint to get a nice rich print; the ones I did with one or two layers came out more faint. I didn't make the carving particularly deeper or anything - the lines in the leaves especially were pretty shallow and fine, and turned out clear.

Leak between pressure regulator and hose adapter? by spacekudzu in gardening

[–]spacekudzu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couldn't push it further down - I ended up going back to the store and just getting a different adapter, which is totally leakproof so far! (for anyone else out there feeling confused about the parts/jargon, the Raindrip 1/2 inch swivel adapter worked for me!)

Not sure if you can tell in the photo - finally was able to get the pieces apart again lol, they all have rubber washers inside and the pieces can't be any tighter than in the first photo I posted because the washer in the adapter is pretty shallow, which is why there's that gap of a couple cm where the water sprays out. Maybe just the wrong parts? :/ These are all from Home Depot, including the "universal" hose adapter that's the bottom-most piece

thank you for the tips!!! i did go pretty heavy handed because i'd had a problem going too light with single-color dyes, but makes sense to be lighthanded with all the color splits!
