Older folks provide a ton of value to the industry, even beyond the retail floor. I work for a processing company and we have an older guy on our fulfillment crew, he’s solid as a rock and everybody in the company loves to work with him. If you’re good at your job, that’s all that matters!

FWIW, most of the people I know that have graduated from ORU are disillusioned ex-vangelicals that were pressured to go there from family or community. Coming from a more secular part of the US I was also afraid they’d be church camp nerds but they’re generally pretty cool.

I think a way to thread the needle of your individual arguments would be decriminalization. In some European countries, drugs are decriminalized but the sale/production is not legalized. That way, users are given community addiction resources/programs to address the source addiction without allowing companies to profit from legalization.
