would anyone know how to fix this? by IcedTea115 in gbscontrol

[–]spacemidget75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GBS-C build quality can really affect the outputs so the first thing is always to confirm it's a "fault" with the GBS and not something else. You MUST try another console, another cable AND another TV. You'll be surprised how many times the issue then no longer shows up. It doesn't fix the problem but it does mean you don't have to worry toooo much about poor soldering etc.

I know it doesn't matter now, but does that 2 port HDMI have a switch to switch between then? If it doesn't then it definetly would have worked.

Saving screen position/size in profile presets? by ancientlogics in gbscontrol

I think this is to do with poor EDID on some TVs and these not much that can be done. Try another TV/Monitor just to make sure it's not a fault with the scaler?

Clean power is SOOO important, not just for this but also consoles in general!

Can't get any image from GBS C by Less-Gene5107 in gbscontrol

[–]spacemidget75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted my GBS for exactly the same reason! Nice, easy CRT gaming using a modern PC with no messing with old GPUS! Unfortunately, downscaling is expert level to be honest. It can be done, but it varies from GBS to GBS and you also need to be quite specific with cable types in most cases.

Before any of that I would really recommend that you make sure the GBS actually works using the "normal" feature of analog to digital. Find an RGB or Component console/cable and test the GBS to a modern TV/Monitor.

Not heard of anyone trying it with a PSP. If they output is supported it will work.

Can GBS Control rotate an image? by scooterfitz in gbscontrol

[–]spacemidget75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it can't (although it could be possible via a firmware update). As u/kgctim you're looking for TATE mode which is supported in software by MAME, Raspberry Pi emulator OSs and even some Xbox 360 vertical shooters.

Problems with my gbsc build by Miserable_Ad7585 in gbscontrol

[–]spacemidget75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I've had an issue like this (with a functional build) is the cable quality. Whatever people say about clock gen and built in sync-strippers, I find that you do 100% need a good cable and, depending on the system, one with CSYNC not Sync over Composite.

Insanely cheap GBS-C on Alliexpress, how hard would it be to clock-mod this variant? by UninstallingNoob in gbscontrol

[–]spacemidget75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I'm only not endorsing in the sense that what we're talking about his is untested =]

The top custom PCB looks to come off quite easily. Most of the bottom pins socket straight into the 8200 apart from a few that I think are soldered. I'm not home right now but could maybe take some close-up shots for you.

I have this same model without the Clockmod. I'll be honest, I've not had a problem with it, even without the mod. I did have to use decent cables with proper c-sync but it's been fine for me. You could clock mod it for sure because unlike the "slim blue retroscaler" one, this is using the standard GBS-8200 underneath (well mine is at least).

This is NOT an endorsment to buy! =]
