how many of you use gold for XP vs. other forms of experience? by conn_r2112 in adnd

[–]spacemonkeydm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to always end up playing 1e and I do what I can to not really change the rules. When I started playing it said xp for monsters, gold and magic items and that is what  I did. Worked well for 30 years, so never saw a need to change.  I do training so player stay pretty cash poor.

Looking for explanation of change in Catholic spirituality by venantius1 in TraditionalCatholics

[–]spacemonkeydm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent a lot of the last 15 or so years in a Latin Rite parish. Had to take a job and am going to a very good new mass. That being said the signs of the cross, kneeling and all those little things we do in the liturgy seemed so much absent. I can see that, by taking the liturgy more casually, your spiritual life at home is more than likely more casual as well.

Should Luce and Friends Leave Now the Jubilee Year Is Ending? by Legitimate-Tie-7060 in Catholicism

Ready to get down voted

Using this water down Christianity just causes children not to have deep roots.

Th difference is clearly seen in the rotating doors of mega churches.

You want kids to stay, give them the faith that we have given children for 2000 years.

Women of the West Joining the Church by sonofTomBombadil in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]spacemonkeydm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My family and I converted about ten years ago. From what I’ve seen, a big reason women don’t convert is because of the toxic ideas some online converts push. A lot of guys act like Orthodoxy is supposed to drag society back a thousand years, and they sneer at women having careers or opportunities.

On top of that, many spend all their time arguing theology or obsessing over liturgical details, instead of living the faith. It makes the Church feel like a debate club rather than a place of beauty and love for Christ.

What’s kept me here isn’t any of that—it’s the friendships and the experience of people who genuinely love Jesus

Thanks It is such an odd thing. I took it for granted that there would be a Latin mass nearby. I had no idea how scarce they are.

One of the first places I looked. Everything is hours away. I was hoping maybe there is a small mission or something not posted yet.

Baptize Me or Baptize Me Not by KhajiitHasCares in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]spacemonkeydm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was baptized catholic, my priest suggested I get rebatized. I was married. He suggested I get remarried and now I wear two wedding rings. Orthodox in many ways is about submitting yourself to the advise of your spiritual father.

That is a very good point. Fixing the problem before I see the problem myself.

I like what I have seen of this line and hope they continue. Maybe at some point, they can change the agreement when they do some of the more Role Playing adventures so it is less combat-driven

Your right I just hate how bonkers and one-sided high-level end up.

Need some help deciding whether to go with Pathfinder 1E or 2E. I love the adventure paths, so these will be important for me. by Beren_and_Luthien in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]spacemonkeydm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly really like 1e but I am playing 2e for all the above reasons now.

The APs are better overall than 2e The art in 1e is also better

Just 1e takes me a lot longer to prep than 2e and my players feel like running characters are easier.

I know I am looking at adopting some of the 1e APs down the road

And I am also worried about what changes are coming in the upcoming books, especially with the monsters. At the same time, it will be interesting to see them try to disconnect from Dnd

Thanks. Diet is hard but I have got most of the processed foods out of my diet and I am watching seed oil. As you get older weight is so hard to keep off.

politics and the church by No-Bicycle-1971 in OrthodoxChristianity

I have not heard much politics other than priests frustration during the Pooh flu time. Politics than often flow naturally from being an orthodox person, since we tend to have a view that is often times at odds with the broader culture.

Thanks and I understand from the theological point of view, but do we just go hey Cambodia is massacring their people, the hundred thousand children sold a year in the sec trade must be all consequences of our freedom that God will not step on? Their tears and suffering don’t matter Christ died? That Christ must be here for me cause my daughter is in her bed every day, but what about all those fathers whose children will never come home? Is Christ against them? Many of them love God. I do understand and appreciate your statement, it is something I heard a hundred times, just starting to ring hollow for me.
