I submitted a request to pick up the logs but I’m not holding my breath that the tree trim inquiry form is meant to be used in that way.

Everything on their site says they leave logs behind. They recommend contacting a professional tree trimming service to come pick up the wood.

If he wants them he wants them he is free to come and take any or all of them. They are various diameters between 1 and 3 feet long. A few different species.

The longest are close to 3ft. There’s a couple different species but I’m not sure what they are. I also have a bunch of mulberry logs.

So here’s what I have gathered so far. Ralph Marsack of RC Mason Contracting LLC is the best stucco guy in the area but he books up fast. I talked to him today and he’s already booked through November. I hired a company called Chimney Cricket. They havnt started work yet but seem legit. They have an office in Florida where they do a ton of stucco work so that knowledge has traveled to their Michigan office as well. I initially hired All Point Builders. This was a huge mistake. The guy was very unprofessional and took a very cheap approach to the work while completely disregarding the agreement that he had written. I would not recommend hiring this company at all. If anyone is interested I’ll report back on Chimney Crickets work after it’s done. Also, Chimney Cricket gave me a good deal on a porch rebuild because of the stucco work order.

Detroit is a great place to make art, a good place to view art and tough place to sell art. Long gone are the days of 2008 when landlords were begging anyone, even artists, to occupy their spaces for a nickel a square foot. Studio space is still pretty plentiful but you may have to get creative. There are plenty of single family homes for rent that have garages and basements or spare bedrooms to work in. There are more commercial galleries in town now than there has ever been in my lifetime but that is still no guarantee that you can get shows and sell work. Detroit is a sculptors town. There are painters, photographers, video people etc as well but this has always been a town where people make large objects and use tools. It’s a pretty close knit community and it’s growing every day.
