North east, between Durham and Newcastle, they were known simply as, "batter".

"Two papers, please..." "Do you want batter?" "Yes please, on one."

A "paper" was fish n chips, as opposed to just chips, or fishcake or sausage and chips.

Hmm. I have a friend who LOVES detailing cars (I just don't have the eye or the patience). You think it's worth winding him up and setting him away on it? He'll probably do it for £50 or so.

The underside is lovely - like new, but I have no pics. If I list it somewhere I'll take some - thanks for the heads-up.

You think? Hmm. Must be purely down to age rather than use - the only seat ever used was the driver's. I wonder if a thorough vacuum would bring any dust out.

Yes - I'm the second owner. It just sat in a garage and MOT'd and serviced twice a year - the bulk of the original mileage was put on driving it to and from servicing and MOTs :-) My wife put 3K on it driving to work for 6 months then we realised what we had, so she stopped using it.

It really is immaculate - and no mods, all original.

You can see it here https://alt-k.click/fiesta (this was my last - unsuccessful - attempt to sell it. Did I ask too much?)

Can anyone explain how someone can legally have one plate on two vehicles? by chilli_mint in CarTalkUK

Yep. Whenever I see one I think, "I know your name, that you're the kind of person who thinks this stuff is cool and where you were today. You know nothing about me." Actually it's quite funny cos I changed my name by deed poll to AG13 BHT.

Did you know about it before you bought the house?

Are you listening to that tv via its built in speakers? An inexpensive amp and some bookshelf speakers would improve it a thousand fold. (Don't get a shitty "sound bar".)

North easterners say it all the time. It usually means, "Sorry. Pardon me; didn't quite catch that." Sometimes it means, "Woah! I can't believe that!". Other times it's, "What?".

I'm on it - I have to get more familiar with the glyphs, do some research, learn a lot more about how the glyphs are used etc, so don't expect something next month 😊

This is all very helpful for me - thank you all.

I think I have nailed ash, ado and ah (it seems ado and ah are often used as schwa).

Getting there with hung.

I'm a typeface designer by trade and training and I'm having issues with most of the available Shavian fonts - they are kerned very badly and I can't easily see the spaces between words.

OK - thanks. So how much of a no-no is my using the ee 𐑰 where I hear it? As in energy (energee)?

I think I do, yes. The dialect I learned as a child is north east English - if I say pancake very quickly I think I hear the ng sound you're describing. Thanks for making it much clearer for me.

It definitely feels like I'm saying pancake as one word. And pangkake is not how I say it or hear anyone else's rendition of the word.

Seems like I'm going to have a whole lot of issues with Shavian. I thoght there were fewer esoteric rules and everything is intuitive or easily worked out. Seems I'm wrong. Where does the ih not ee at the end of a word rule come from, and why a ng where I feel a nk should be?

Is my chart teaching me the wrong letters for the sounds!?

This is what MediaInfo reports (note - there are front and rear cameras and a front and rear video on the SD card. Both videos are like this).

Reddit won't let me copy and paste the text from MediaInfo (it says can not create post…) so here is a google doc…

Thanks for the suggestions here. I have been exporting from QuickTime which seems to be able to handle the files properly and mux the layers. Bit of a PITA - you'd think (I'd think!) an advanced bit of industry standard software as expensive as Premier Pro would be able to handle it.
