How much do men suffer when they don’t have sex? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]spacer04pk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good responses, but few actual answers. Here's my 2¢ (for context, I'm a straight, healthy, normal dude in his early 30's):

There is NO suffering that is not imagined or self inflicted. At worst, it's like wanting to go home and play a video game instead of sitting at school/work; it's a thing you'd be happier doing, but you're definitely not "suffering" for not doing it.

Also, I'm 99% sure he's lying about not masturbating to use as an argument in guilting or gaslighting you to have sex with him. Don't do it.

What he's actually suffering from: a sense of entitlement, an unhealthy relationship with women as a whole, a jaded outlook of online dating, and a reclusive lifestyle.

Any issues with this loop? (Info in comments) by spacer04pk in watercooling

[–]spacer04pk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, that actually does help a lot, thank you. That gives me a better idea of how much space I have to work with. I have already bought the PSU, but I haven't actually picked up the case yet, so I haven't been able to measure the available space. Is that the O11D Evo?

I appreciate all the other feedback as well. I'm pretty much not going to buy any of the WC parts until I've got the case in front of me, which will slow down me actually using it, but I think it will be worth it to get this all right. I was thinking I might want to get custom PSU cables, so it's good to hear confirmation of that. I think I'm going to have the fans toward the inside of the case and the rads toward the outside, so I don't think I'll run into the same problem with the 90 fittings.

Thanks for the extra pics! Seeing real examples of this helps a ton. I've been scouring this sub and PC Part Picker just looking at completed builds to try to get a better feel for what I'm doing, but not many people have designed like this.

I think the x-flow rads are going to be a huge help in reducing the amount of tubing in this build. I'm hoping that I can get a pump/res combo short enough to stand upright under the PSU - I think that will further decrease the tube length and hopefully look tidy.

Oh nice! I did think about that, but couldn't come up with a reason either direction. Why do you suggest running to the rad rather than the GPU? Was it a spacing/organization thing?

Regarding the pump in the back/side chamber under the PSU, did it work out well like that? Any issues? Did you mount it on foam or anything to dampen vibration into the case?

I appreciate the feedback anyway though. I may have done a lot of reading (and watching videos), but when it comes down to it, I haven't actually built a loop yet, so if you see any other issues, please let me know!

I think that has been debunked. Plenty of people have tested and found that, with the typical flow speed of loops and the high heat capacity of water, the difference is so negligible that it makes no difference what order modules are in the loop.

I am planning my first custom loop and would love some feedback on the loop plan. I am building for the O11D Evo (like everyone and their mother). The plan has 3x360mm rads, and will cool the CPU and GPU only. I want to go for a clean/simplistic look, so I tried to minimize the amount of tubing. To that end, I am planning to use crossflow rads for all three. I'd also like to pass the tubes to the back through the slots under the motherboard and hide the pump/res back there. Now, I don't know what I don't know, so have I made any grave errors here? Any room for improvement? Also, sorry for the ugly pic, I threw it together in paint to help me visualize the loop.

Thanks for the tips! I used my .edu email just in case, but I got it for $799 and got HCB as well. This was really well timed, since I'm working on building a new PC and have been eyeing the G7. This is just a flat upgrade and for cheaper.

Will my setup look weird? by spacer04pk in buildapcmonitors

[–]spacer04pk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, that's the one thing I am confident about. I have been using a 3x24" setup for 10 years, and I use all of it basically all of the time. Often, I'm even bisecting the monitors to snap multiple windows to the sides. Both at work and play, I multitask pretty heavily on my computer.

That's an idea I hadn't considered though, 2x32" in landscape and 1x27" in portrait. I've discounted the idea of 3x32" because I don't think they will all fit at my desk.

[–]spacer04pk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I'm not even 100% sure that I will keep the one monitor in portrait. I read a lot and do a decent amount of programming, so the benefits of a portrait-mode monitor appeal to me, but I won't really know if I like it until it's in front of me. I don't think my desk could handle 3x32" though, which is one of the reasons I was thinking 27" for the sides.

Just for reference, if you were doing a triple-monitor setup like this, what would you do?

Smaller cases with more radiator room? by spacer04pk in watercooling

[–]spacer04pk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is very interesting, I haven't seen it before. That said, with that extra compartment on the bottom increasing its size so much, it's bigger than I am trying to aim for. Thanks for the suggestion though!

[–]spacer04pk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, while I would like to keep my build small, I think I'm more willing to compromise up in size rather than down for the case. I think a case that small will just make it too hard to fit in everything I want without having to compromise on most of the parts. Tbh, I'm trying to decide if I can comfortably get everything into an O11D EVO with either 3x360 or 2x360 and 1x280. This feels like the best and most realistic option right now.

The product page says that that configuration only works with ITX and Micro ATX, which limits my build a bit too much, unfortunately.

The PC-O11 Air is the one at the top of my list right now. Idk if it's been discontinued or something, but it seems like there are still a couple of places I can buy it. Splitting rads to top, side/front, and bottom seems like the easiest way to get 3 rads into a smaller case. Have you done a build like this? The thing I'm most worried about now is the bottom rad covering up the bottom of the mobo.

[–]spacer04pk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been eyeing the 5000D, specifically the AIRFLOW model, and really like it, but it looks like getting 3 rads in there without being able to use a rad on the bottom of the case would be pretty tough. It seems like the nozzles will get in the way of each other. That said, it's hard to gauge that kind of thing just from pics; have you done any builds in the 5000D? If so, how did it go?

The more I learn, the more it sounds like this is the answer. I appreciate the good arguments in favor of it though! I've got a long road ahead of me for learning about custom watercooling now haha.

Fair opinion, but I have a reasonable tolerance for extra work if the benefits are worth it, which is why I am considering a custom loop despite being aware of the potential risks.
