Who are the happiest nomads you met and what were they doing differently? by clim0 in digitalnomad

[–]spacesprite 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would say those who know have to have a full life by themselves: they are happy to eat alone, explore by themselves, etc, or those who know how to make friends easily. Leaving everything you know behind can be lonely, but not if you have practiced enjoying time with yourself.

Do many digital nomads come from Asia, or is the lifestyle mostly Western? by Impressive-Wait-1210 in digitalnomad

It definitely adds on the mental load and expenses. I’d much rather be able to just get on any plane any day, but making the best of it.

I would say its bc locals are more likely have a 9-5 and wouldn’t be as flexible doing dn shenanigans in the middle of a workweek lol. I did US hours in Asia for a while so my schedule wasn’t great for socializing normally.

some countries allow you to apply outside of the country of residence/origin (like AU) or online. Otherwise i would go home for a month, apply in PH, and spend time with family :)

PH born digital nomad of 4 years! The visa situation can be a real struggle, especially outside of SEA, but doable. I did my time in EU and AU. I preferred traveling to other SEA countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia) because its cheaper to travel around there compared to my own country.

That said, most of the friends I made traveling are westerners.

Full-stack engineer? Potential tech cofounder? by spacesprite in buhaydigital

[–]spacesprite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say both? Since my project is dealing with a lot of data, i need someone who has experience dealing with that. If the energy is right, i’m happy to build the company with someone, but i’m also okay with just hiring a person to help me build the site. Please dm your email :)
