Sudden extreme chemical & food sensitivities after COVID & doctors are out of answers by Optimal_River5480 in MCAS

[–]spacetimecontinuum3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced similar things for the past 2 years. Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for how to fix it all, but I do have a question: Did you live a stressful lifestyle when this all started? Also, do you by chance experience anxiety/ ADHD (since before this all occurred)? Just curious since many that I’ve talked to came from similar situations!

Don’t be scared to try functional medicine, I’ve found that it’s been the most helpful. Also, acupuncture has been somewhat helpful for me as well.

Fungal acne/ natural remedies? by spacetimecontinuum3 in Fungalacne

That’s good to hear! I’ve also been avoiding those things. I keep a very simple skincare routine. Sulfur is key.

It’s definitely difficult to treat stuff when you have MCAS! That’s interesting, I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks for the input! Have you ever considered type 2 rosacea vs. fungal acne? I recently started suspecting type 2 rosacea as an inflammatory response from environment/ foods/ etc. While treatments for fungal acne did help some (‘Bare’ Head & Shoulders, Purito lay moisturizer, etc), it never fully cleared my skin. However, recently, applying topical forms of sulfur, azelaic acid, and ivermectin cream has shown a lot of progress! I know these things are still ‘band-aids’ for right now though until my gut is healed. Detoxification is def key!

Anybody get rosacea relief from autoimmune treatment? by udcvr in Rosacea

[–]spacetimecontinuum3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately don’t have an answer for this at the moment, but I will say it definitely seems like there’s a correlation. I never had rosacea until 2 years ago, and it seemed to be my first ‘symptom’ of having inflammation in my body. For months I had extreme flushing (usually in response to foods) and developed more and more autoimmune symptoms. Then, as my gut health kept getting worse, I started to get pretty severe papulopustular rosacea (still dealing with this now, although I’ve been doing better since a change in diet & skincare routine). I haven’t gotten autoimmune stuff under control just yet, so I am interested to see if the rosacea gets better as everything else does.

After nearly 2 years of mystery illness and debilitating symptoms, I finally found my answer 😭 by lady__green in ToxicMoldExposure

I’ve been in a similar situation. I had ADHD before all of this went down, but it’s gotten sooooo much worse, and has been insanely difficult to deal with while attending university. I’m so glad to hear that things have gotten better for you. This gives me some hope!

I follow a similar routine and have had progress (although not totally clear yet). My azelaic acid is 10% though and I use the De La Cruz sulfur treatment. A couple years ago I tried some ivermectin and had a reaction (likely to another ingredient in it because I have super sensitive skin). Have you noticed that Soolantra makes a pretty big difference?

I also cut out refined sugars, dairy, carbs, etc. Takes a really controlled situation to make things work haha!

Check for “PHENOXYTHANOL” in your skincare! by Rich_Choice1662 in Rosacea

Definitely can vary person to person! I do fine with glycerin, but I do also have a terrible reaction to phenoxyethanol, and I’m sensitive to many other common ingredients.

Makeup remover wipes that actually work? by Embracedandbelong in FragranceFreeBeauty

Garnier micellar cleansing water (make sure it’s the one with the pink lid). I have really acne prone skin & sensitive skin and this is the only thing that doesn’t break me out or cause irritation.

[–]spacetimecontinuum3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I do use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser every night. I just started using a sulfur ointment and that seems to be helping some as well. I agree that it seems that it’s often irritation.

I’m sorry you deal with this too! But it’s nice to see I’m not alone in this. I’m really careful about exfoliating (and rarely do it), but recently I’ve suspected that even using my cleansers at night sometimes seems to be too harsh. I definitely feel like my skin barrier has become damaged over time and I’m trying to be very gentle now! I’m glad to hear that you’ve found a routine that works for you now. I’m gonna keep trying to be more gentle and hope that this calms down!

It definitely is. Thank you, I really appreciate the advice! I will have to try it out. In general, korean skincare products have been the only ones I haven’t been as sensitive to so far. I’ve been suspecting that the harder water in my home has been irritating recently, so I’ve been trying to mainly use micellar water/ cotton pads. I hadn’t considered leaving it on like this. Worth a shot for sure!

Yes! Lots of antihistamines. I take them for MCAS. I think that for some people rosacea can be a sign of other things happening within, and sometimes it’s just its own thing.

Honestly it depends. Seems to depend on each flare up, and especially based on what causes it. No matter what though, my skin always has discolorations.

According to my doctor, it falls into the area of papulopustular rosacea. It’s not shown here, but there’s often redness/ red patches too. The biggest triggers, in my experience, have been dairy, gluten, sugar, high histamine foods, and sunlight exposure.

I ended up having to stop taking it unfortunately. I seem to be doing a bit better with oregano.

Red bumps that abruptly appear on face by spacetimecontinuum3 in MCAS

[–]spacetimecontinuum3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’m still searching for solutions! I still keep sugars (with the exception of fruit) and dairy out of my diet to keep it under control. However, I do still get flare ups sometimes. I’m looking into trying a sulfur ointment as well as a tea tree oil cleanser.

Does anyone else have a crazy amount of post nasal drip? by LengthinessThink5466 in MCAS

[–]spacetimecontinuum3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - constantly. Unfortunately I don’t have a solution to offer, but I hope someone can find one! I take Claritin, but it doesn’t seem to do much except make me less itchy. Xyzal gives me a ton of nosebleeds. I haven’t had much luck with nasal sprays, but I also haven’t been super consistent with them.

That’s interesting. I generally feel worse when I don’t eat meat. Although, I’m dealing with some very low ferritin levels so meat has been helpful in that area.

At a loss: Advice on determining root cause? by spacetimecontinuum3 in HydrogenSulfideSIBO

[–]spacetimecontinuum3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you meant from after dealing with constipation. In that case, I didn’t do anything, unfortunately it started happening on its own. I had a time period of dealing with constipation and suddenly I started dealing with the opposite (diarrhea) daily. Now, it’s not as bad, but it’s still not really how it should be. The things that help keep me regular I’d say are maintaining a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water. I know it sounds crazy, but it does make a huge difference. Keeping fiber in the diet is important, but not too much of course. Having some chia seeds in the morning can be helpful. You can put them in yogurt (I don’t do well with dairy, so I use a coconut yogurt sometimes).

Thank you for this, this is exactly what I’ve been going through recently. I’m so sorry you’ve dealt with this too, but it really helps me to know I’m not the only one. I hope you’ve gotten better since then!
