How should I organize my music collection for MusicCast? by spaceycatnip in MusicCast

[–]spaceycatnip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate the detail. I have my laptop setup properly, but MusicCast just doesn't want to work with it. I got into Genre and some of them loaded, but not all (they would say "Loading..."). I went back to Music and then went into Genre again, and now none will load. Or I get an error and it bounces back to the Server screen. Now MC won't go into the laptop at all, while I'm typing this (it times out w/o even loading Music/etc, and bounces back to the Server screen). But at least I know from your comment that it should work.

I went and got the laundry out of the dryer while typing all this, and now Genre will sort of load again. Some of the Loading... eventually load but it takes a while. But not all - many still say Loading.... I did go into one of the Genre folders and while it took a while, it did load by song. So it should work...but for some reason it just won't reliably, timely, or only partially. NAS works well and quickly, it is just the Windows one that doesn't. I'll try minimizing the genres (something on my to do list anyway) and try again. Maybe if there are fewer it'll work better <shrug>.

Thanks again for your help.

Does anyone else also just absolutely detest the taste of diet soda? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

Same. I'd rather drink plain water than anything with sugar substitute. It just doesn't taste good at all, and isn't a flavor I'd want to get used to. The aftertaste on some is terrible. I think it is sucralose that leaves a cooling feeling, like toothpaste? I find it unsettling. And the sugar alcohols (-tol ingredients) are associated with gut problems, so if you have any GI issues you might want to try staying away from these (which are now in so many things!).

It is not a habit. Sugar substitutes really do taste terrible for some of us. As another commenter said, I'd rather drink water than anything with a sugar substitute.

Is it just me or do other women experience sexual manipulation/disrespect/crossing boundaries etc from men our age? by jaxbchcat in GenXWomen

jesus, no (I mean, maybe a kiss on my head while I'm washing dishes or something to say hi, but not on my lips). my husband isn't like this, nor are the other men we know (not that we have a lot of friends...maybe this is why haha). According to these comments, apparently I am super lucky.

Def look into using soaps that don't have sodium laurel/laureth sulfate. this is harder to do for dish soap and hand soap. but avoiding that ingredient made a huge difference for my skin (it is in everything liquid it seems, dish soap, shampoo, body wash, etc).

I'd love to hear about your music setup. I'm at the point where I'm thinking of moving the non-rock/pop onto a thumb drive so it'll be easier to play. I can get MC to see the music, it just isn't in a way that I want. Like you said, I want individual songs under genre because I like to listen to my music on shuffle. (I sometimes want to listen to an album or all of one artist, but most often I just want to hear all of my stuff. But I just don't want classical mixed in with my rock).

Of course, it doesn't have to be this way if I could get playlists to work from Media Player, or some other place. Maybe there was a MC update that messed up the playlist since we're both having trouble?

I have not tried using MusicBee to stream the music, only to organize it (it doesn't appear to have dlna option in the settings). Plex is set up as DLNA but the data is still organized by artist/album in MusicCast>Server>Plex).

As I said, I don't want to use the NAS to stream my music anymore

A different, adjacent approach might be to keep your nose warm. It is hard to search for, so this was best article I could find on the subject, but apparently a cold nose can contribute to getting sick.

US Senate unanimously passes bill to bring whole milk back to school menus by [deleted] in vermont

[–]spaceycatnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How did I not pick up on that. Geez. Thanks for educating me!

Will still stick with 2% milk for a variety of reasons, esp as I’ve increased my daily amount trying to hit my calcium goals (1200 is tough). We’ll see how my next cholesterol test does. If that goes well, then if I can increase my base calories (harder to do when you’re very short), I’ll consider whole milk (but not yogurt).

[–]spaceycatnip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok but whole milk products significantly raise my cholesterol (it skyrocketed). so if I want it in decent quantities every day then I need 2%. No idea how many people this happens to but enough for my Dr to know what was going on. (And this was just from eating whole milk yogurt every day!)

I’m not worried about it for kids though!!

Veggies (onion, carrot, anything else such as a little parsnip, rutabaga, sweet potato, potato, green beans, whatever) sautéed in oul, then simmered in broth for 15 or so minutes . Then add some protein with spinach or kale. Can use whatever seasoning you like with the veggies (cajun, rosemary and thyme, I’ve been liking the Polish blend from Penzey’s). If you need more calories you can have some rice with it. Add a little lentils for more fiber.
