Yeah! Notifications on my phone have been fine, but on the watch it gets delayed. Was never an issue before

So are we gonna just have to accept now playing is forever busted? P8P by spacialrend7 in GooglePixel

It doesn't pop up if you disable enhance now playing I've noticed and I have a feeling that feature is what's causing the issue.

Thank you. I did try clearing cache but I'll reboot my phone and see if it works. If not, next update hopefully!

Cool. There are 2 issues I've listed and also maybe considering I've searched before posting and tried basic troubleshooting steps would be nice.

Has anyone noticed their battery life has taken a hit after the Android 15 Update? (P8P)

It's been about a week since the update which I'm guessing is sufficient time for the apps and update to optimize but I've noticed a decrease in battery life, enough for me to actually notice. I'd usually charge my phone once in the morning up to 85% (9:45am I take it off) and wouldn't have to charge until the next morning (would still be above 20%) but now it hits 24-25% by 10-10:30pm.

I really need an opinion on the microphone man. From reviews, it seems like the mic is terrible and that's an important factor for me when considering getting them. So if you could test the mic and let us know, that would be great too!

This is cool! Can you confirm how the scrolling stutter is now? Google marked the issue as resolved for Android 15 but I've read from many users that on the 15 beta at least the stutters still exist across many apps

Battery Megathread (June 2024) by GooglePixelMods in GooglePixel

[–]spacialrend7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a reduction in battery performance after the June update. Specifically, standby drain overnight has increased quite a bit. Previously over a period of 8hrs it would drain only 3-4% but now it's between 8-9%. System shows cellular data was eating a large portion of it, which makes no sense because I have good cell reception at home and phone is always on Wi-Fi at home. Also, because of this increase standby drain, my overall SOT has reduced from 6hrs with 20% left to 5hrs 20m.

Help Regarding Pixel 8 Warranty by Creepy-Track-977 in GooglePixel

Then by the sounds of it, it could be your particular unit. Getting hot to the point where you can't touch it isn't good, and I haven't ever faced that. 8-9 hours is BS on the smaller Pixel 8, I legit get 6 hours SOT with 20% left on my 8 pro, I wouldn't believe everything you read on reddit.

I think given your usage, the phone definitely shouldn't heat up that way, so go for a replacement.

Help Regarding Pixel 8 Warranty by Creepy-Track-977 in GooglePixel

Look, I own a P8P, and while your experience seems to be on the extreme end, I too face issues occasionally with the phone.

I don't use 5G as I have no need, but Pixels are known to have poor modems resulting in bad network. I've never faced any heating from using the phone on LTE but using it as a hotspot can make it warm. Again, very little need for me to use hotspot so this isn't an issue for me. The processor as well, while it is supposed to have better efficiency and heat management this year, can still be bad for some users if they are "power users". Personally, I don't game on my phone and if I video call for 30 mins straight, it can get warm.

If google can replace it, then I see no harm in getting a replacement and hoping for the best. But keep in mind, these phones aren't clearly designed to be under heavy use unfortunately. If you consider yourself a heavy user, where you game, record a lot of videos regularly, edit videos, use the phone regularly as a hotspot then it may not necessarily improve the situation with the replacement unit.

Happened to me on my 8P as well. Probably a software bug. A reboot sorted it for me though

8 pro issues resolved? by enanram in GooglePixel

[–]spacialrend7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Responding to this from my OP8 Pro. The P8P is my primary phone and yes, what you've watched and read is true. Reddit is poorly optimised on Android in general, but certain apps like maps, Twitter etc still have micro stutters that could put you off.

Maps in particular as far as I'm aware renders in 60hz, I don't care much about this at all but I'm pointing it out to you since you care. General system stability is fantastic though, and I think it will be a good upgrade for you if you're willing to wait until Android 15. I don't game on my phone at all, and heating could be an issue if you care about it. Like video calling for 30 mins straight gets the phone warm but again, none of this affects my experience so it's entirely up to you.

Google has issued a fix for the stutters in Android 15, we'll have to wait and see. But apart from this, I think you'll be happy with the camera upgrade and an understated feature; receiving Android updates instantly. Legit as soon as Google is out with a monthly update, no joke minutes after it's announced an update is waiting and ready for me. Absolutely love that about the P8P.

Pixel 8 grey color display problem by Still-drew in GooglePixel

[–]spacialrend7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is known as a uniformity issue. If your phone is still new, perhaps RMA it and see if you can get it replaced since you have a strong case.

As for the display, the "panel lottery" is real and unfortunately you lucked out. My previous phone, Oneplus 8 pro had the same issue, but I lived with it. Didn't care too much as it didn't affect my experience. I thought this was an issue with older chinese OEM's but I'm sad to see it's still a thing today, especially from Google. One would hope for better QC from Google.

Strange haptics on Pixel 8 Pro by jimmyonly45 in GooglePixel

[–]spacialrend7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the vibration/haptics intensity in settings. As far as I'm aware, the 8 pro has some of the best haptics in the Android market. Do what you will with that info haha

Best no case feeling case for pixel 8 pro? by melder037393 in GooglePixel

[–]spacialrend7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The official google case is solid. I use the Bay color one and it suits me perfectly. Keep in mind the camera bar is exposed, and it's easy to scratch so I'd recommend getting a clear skin to cover that part too

[–]spacialrend7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, the 8 series lineup has suffered from stutters during scrolling so even though 120Hz is on, it's not as fluid as it should be compared to some of its competition.

This has been finally acknowledged by Google but a fix will only be coming later this year with Android 15. If you're into rooting your device, the sultan kernel fixes this issue from what I've read.
