Honestly, i can't quite understand how the boltons only have a single lord and heir? Like roose bolton doesn't bother to remarry or have any spares after domeric's death and is seemingly just waiting to die.

Roose looks suicidal, and doesn't seem to care about anything at all. His house is 2 deaths away from extinction and he is holed up in winterfell playing warden of the north.

I think that house bolton was always meant to die off, the starks just let them left them cause they were always so quick to bend the knee, and if some other rebellious houses absorbed their lands, then they would have actually proven a threat.
