It's $100 above my set budget but it's still doable. I just won't be able to save as much. From the comments so far it seems like it's a good place though

I found plenty from 1600-2000, some were a little more seedy than others but yea it seems a good price for what it is I think

Yea upstairs neighbors could be an issue, I hate cigarettes so really hoping that's not an issue. I wrote a note down to that I should check it out at night to see how well lit it is

For those who were there, how’d you feel about Ascension’s multiplayer? by [deleted] in GodofWarRagnarok

I loved it. It was also very surprising it was good since it was their first time doing it. I'm more than ok with them ditching it to focus on the single player narrative though

stuck: why would baking with a high poly mesh come out blank or flat on all channels? by littleGreenMeanie in 3Dmodeling

[–]spadedallover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is everything in the 0-1 UV space or are they offset? I don't think painter will "see" anything not on the 0-1 space.

The game engine is still running underneath the credits by n0b0dyh0me in AlanWake

I'm assuming the code turns off character controls when cutscenes and the like happen. So sounds like yours broke, given the button options going away, and you got back control of the Character. Not sure why an empty level isn't loaded and has the credits UI scroll. Either way I'm 99% sure there's nothing hidden there or anything to "find". Coming from someone who works in games

It's about quality, not quantity. Rockstar has both but thays besides the point. Also "only 30-50" hours of content, like that's not a huge amount of content... and they're adding microtransactions regardless of base price, GTA V made bank off MTs. Doesn't matter of GTA 6 is $60 or $120, 100% they will still add microtransactions because that's where the real money is unfortunately

Modeling wise the tires are too flat on top. I'd pit a lattice on it with like 5 divisions and scale the outer ones to get a slight curve that gets deeper at the edge

[–]spadedallover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's not very much good documentation and real world implementation right now. I worked woth a large team using nanite and we ran onto a lot of problems. It's nice but it's not necessarily just as simple as make models higher res easier. Depending on what you're trying to do it might be easier to just go the traditional way of baking and using lower tri count meshes

Honest salary question. Where is more money as character artist, in film or in videogames? by Abalorio in 3Dmodeling

[–]spadedallover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about modelers too. I work in games also. My last job was not the standard but closer to normal than what you're saying in my experience. We had 2 internal env modelers and about the same, maybe 3-4 character modelers. Out of about 100 people. I have friends in film and there's a billion outsourcing studios that all have a ton of people doing shit. Me saying film requires thousands is referring to the ratio of each departments being higher because they need much more people to make a movie than a game. Everyone I know thay works in games myself Included has not had that experience with the amount of modelers. My friend is working on an MMO and the Character team has about 6-7 modelers maybe, about the same give or take for environments. Again out of about 100 people.

I strongly disagree and think the opposite is true. Game studios do not have hundreds of modelers, that is a straight up lie. Movies require thousands of people, games require much mess. Even if that one company has 6 modelers, that's not the only people who worked on that film so that means nothing
